Also, travelsphere does an amazing trip to Borneo which looks amazing. It would be brillinat if they did that for singles. I went to paris for the new year with ts and although i loved it it was a bit off-putting as everyone else were in a couple!

Good Morning Janib,

Thanks for your interest. You can apply to be a tour manager by emailing a CV and a covering letter to rcarter@travelsphere.co.uk

Kind Regards

Ben

Tour Manager would love to do that job (love travel, organising and working with people), reckon it would suit me but with no experience in the travel industry I've probably left it too late to consider it at 53 yars old.

Still nice thought though.

Hi Janib,

We have many tour managers of a similar age, if you are really interested please send your CV over, I'm not sure if they're recruiting right now but you will be added to the mailing list,

All the best

Ben

I would like to see longer holidays. For long-haul holidays, when travelling time is taken off actual time at destination can be relatively short.

Applies to some short holidays; last year I took the Christmas holiday in France which included two full days travelling.

Thank you Ben for all the info. Need to update my CV. As to Mick, I am 54 and so I beat you by a year. In 2 days I will be on my way to Lake Garda so I hope I can send my CV before then!

Jan.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday with JY and it is not long enough, 10 day or 2 weeks would be more beneficial.

Yes, I too agree. Some longer holidays would be good.

Would like to see some more 2 week+ destinations. Only Thailand & NZ left for me. I think a flight of 8 hours+ is not worth it unless it's for at least 2 weeks esp if you've a connecting flight. Some of your destinations e.g. Japan (6 nights), Arg & Braz (8), China (8), Silk Rd (6), etc. are far too short for the long flights involved. I also see some of the slightly longer tours have been taken off, e.g. Malaysia, Petra to Pyramids and Turkey 11 days substituted with a 8 day one. I've recently done the Can Rockies by bus which was too rushed and not long enough - 13 or 14 nights would be better and forget the Alaska cruise (not much to see on it coupled with possibility of rough seas). I think some new 'exciting' long haul destinations are needed (Borneo, Burma, more USA, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Chile (+other S & Central America), 2 week Mexico, etc.). Also European holidays longer than a week.

I agree with much of what daphnemca says but the problem would be cost I think. Holidays in this bracket would be £3,000 plus and not in everyone's price range. Having said that I'm afraid I do find this years brochure rather dull.

I agree with all that Daphne has said, I've viewed the new brochure online and am very disappointed that some holidays have been stopped - such as Malaysia and Tunisia, both of which I planned to do. Now I'm just worried that other hols will be dropped before I have a chance to do them! I'm going to do China with Travelsphere rather than JY, as although I would prefer to do it with JY and it sounds a great trip, it doesn't include Shanghai or Hong Kong and is just too short. Likewise, I hope to do the Travelsphere Chile, Argentina and Brazil, as JY doesn't do Chile. I think we are being shortchanged!!

We all know that Austria is famous for its skiing, However Its is also a wonderful place for walking holidays And therefore I would like to see some sort of walking in Austria Holidays, added to the future brochures. I am aware Just You currently do a wonderful taster walking Holiday to The Ahr Valley in Germany to which I thoroughly recommend to all. I think a similar sort of Trip to Austria would be handy. Just You currently use a wondeful place handily located where there ample routes in and around Weyrigg. You could still have the 8 day tour, And perhaps mix it along with some walking excursions

Hi,

I agree with Andy - there are not many walking holidays now. I have done the Ahr Valley trip twice (& know Andy has done it 6 times) so it would be good to go walking at Level 1 to another destination.

The Austrian Lakes is just the right sort of holiday to combine with walking . I have only done the Austrian Lakes once so far but certainly intend to go again at some point.

The only down side of the Ahr Valley is that the coach journey to get there deters some people and it is only 5 days. A longer trip - as is the Austrian Lakes - would be a good idea. The countryside around Weyregg is ideal and the combination with the other excursions (like Salzburg) would make for a good holiday.

Come on Just You - you listened to us over Route 66 (and look at the response to that) so how about another walking holiday for us not-too-serious walkers? I for one would be interested in this.

Best wishes,

Lesley

Thanks Andy & Lesley

I know my colleagues are considering activity holidays at the moment. The more people express an interest in the idea, the more likely it will be. As you know, we used to offer more walking options so presumably there wasn't enough demand for them at the time. Maybe this will change.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

Sorry I have no interest in activity holidays - there are plenty of other tour operators out there like Explore, On The Go and others who specialise in them and many have no compulsory single supplements. The unique advantage that Just You has is that it offers a wide range of touring holidays with no single supplements - and that is why I book with them. So along with many of the other recent comments on this thread, I humbly ask the powers that be to increase the range of touring holidays, especially long haul, and you will make many customers very happy!

Unfortunately the 'new' JY brochure is very thin! I may have to revert to Travelsphere or other companies with better long haul choice! I prefer the singles tours as everybody is in the same boat and mix with each other. I only hope that JY steal a few new tours from T'sphere and Page&Moy.

I don't see why it's not possible to do both. I love touring too but realise that not everyone does - particularly people who have stressful jobs and would prefer to 'take it easy' when on holiday. I am happy 'living out of a suitcase' but know others may find it extremely tiresome.

The all-inclusive holidays are catering for people who like a 'beach holiday' . Perhaps the people who like to 'lie and fry' find this really relaxing and would prefer not to be dashing off looking at things and Just You seem to be catering for a wider range now.

I am not a serious walker - I am an ambler not a rambler - but even I found the Level 1 walking on the Ahr Valley trip enjoyable and so can see no reason that other locations could not be included. Therefore a couple of other alternatives would provide people with choice. As there seems to be more and more younger people going on JY holidays it only makes sense that their needs are catered for too. An activity holiday does not necessarily mean anything extreme. Other companies who may do 'activity' holidays are not catering solely for single travellers and this is what Just You is all about.

Also not everyone likes to do long-haul holidays - just because I do does not mean that everyone else does. Some prefer to travel to Europe

and no further and there is nothing wrong with this. Long-haul holidays are usually of a longer duration and some people may have problems getting time off from work.

It must be very difficult for JY to gauge the varying needs of everyone - a thankless task.

Best wishes,

Lesley

Totally agree with your posting we are all so different, I can always find somewhere I wish to visit, NOT interested in activity holidays ie walking even though I might!! be a younger one my feet as in joints cannot take pounding walking joint problems and boroken foot this year, I like the sight seeing tours, I might not remember all the information but love the history side of life...so JY has me covered for anything and everything I fancy
