I am 33 and have found myself having different holiday needs to my friends and family . I want to start going off on some adventures however I have never travelled alone so rather nervous about the prospect of sending myself of out there in the world. I am wondering if JY is the right way to begin my travels . I'm very close to booking myself on the Chateau Weekend and trip to Monet's Garden in France in October. Is this a good way to begin ? Any advice is gratefully received .

Welcome to JY. Most 1st timers are nervous - but don't be. JY are very good for people travelling alone - you are never alone on these holidays. As to wether the Chateau Weekend/Monet's Garden is a good way to begin - I've never done this holiday, but if it appeals to you then you will enjoy it. Women tend to out number the men. Age ranges vary - holiday's I've been on have ranged from early 20's to late 70's - typical age has been 40's plus but don't let this put you off - age is just a number. Group sizes - smallest I've been on is 16 and largest.

Hi

I have just come back from my first just you holiday as i normaly travel with friends or my daugher ( at 18 she no longer wants to go on sight seeing holidays) and im looking to see what i can book next. It was a great group of people and you can join in as much or as little as you like. Sometimes i wandered on my own sometimes i met up with the rest of the group. You have the freedom to do what you want and the additional saftly blanet of teh tour manager for those who need it. I found it the most stress free holiday i have ever been on as i only had myself to please.

I've done 9 JY holidays varying from resorts and touring (got 10th booked), they are a great (and safe) way of travelling for solo travellers, just go for it I'm sure you wont regret the decision.

Hello and welcome. I would say that if you really fancy the Chateau Weekend and trip to Monet's Garden then do go ahead and book it. I chose Jordan as my first Just You holiday as I always wanted to see Petra. Since then I have been on 3 more Just You holidays and each one has been wonderful. Travelling with Just You is stress free and safe and you are never alone. Your nerves will disappear as soon as you start meeting your fellow travellers at the airport.

Regards

Jaya

Thanks to everyone for your advice, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for it and book my holiday. Having the reassurance that I can make that step on my own but not be on my own has made me feel very positive about it . Thanks again !

Hi. I am thinking of booking this as my first trip too! Just need to check that I can do it with my wonky arthritic knee then I am going to book so maybe we will be newbies together.

Welcome,

I went on this trip 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, you are very reliant on the weather and October might be rather late weather-wise!

Have you booked after all? Ok so you are on your own in the airport for a few hours but I take a book and have something to eat. I look forward to the flight as flying is one of the best bits.

I was an absolute nervous wreck the 1st time but since then have been with JU 5 times and am going to Puglia on Saturday. Just think of it as a great adventure. Once you are on the coach you will all be chatting together.

I hope you have booked by now. It is hard on your own the first time and I was a nervous wreck. I have since been on 18 different holidays, five with JU. So you are on your own for a few hours in the airport but I read my book and have a meal, and people do talk to you and its surprising how many people go on their own. Once you are in the coach at the other end everyone starts chatting you can relax.

I usually pair up with other travellers and dont think I would like to go with a friend as I like to do my own thing

or join the group. The only thing is when you get home you do miss all the cameraderie, but that prompts you to go again.
