I've just been to see my practice nurse re innoculations and anti-malaria pills for Burma. I always used to buy Malarone through the website Travelpharm.com, but she has now given me Atovaquone & Proguanil which is the generic name for Malarone, and is a lot cheaper! It is exactly the same. Travelpharm are selling it, with a prescription, for 99p a tablet, but my pharmacist is giving them to me for 85p, so it is worth negotiating!

We will need them for Burma as it is a high risk area.

When I did Kenya, the only people who had side effects were the ones not taking malerone.

Thanks Hils. I am seeing my nurse in the New Year for my jabs for Burma and will be picking up my prescription for Malarone too. However I get free prescriptions and as far as I know this will be free too - the jabs are.

I live in Scotland and we get free prescriptions as well, but for the anti-malaria pills I have to pay, and always have had to. Certain "jags" are payable too, but only for things like Yelllow Fever, Rabies etc. etc. I'm all "jagged up" and ready to go to Burma!
