Reading conflicting information on whether we can take rupees in or not, anyone know what the rules are?

Thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

India has a closed currency so travellers are restricted from taking currenncy into the country. You can take cash and/or a bank card with you to exchange or withdraw rupees once in India. The Tour Manager on your trip will be able to advise the best places to get your currency.

Kim Clark the TM asked me to say that she will meet you at the Grand Hotel in Delhi and is looking forward to meeting everyone. The local agent will meet you at the airport. When I arrived at Delhi I met the local agent in the arrivals hall who was displaying a JY sign . I changed some sterling for rupees there. We were taken to the hotel in a minibus. Kim and a couple of others had already arrived on a different flight as they would be going on to Kerala after our holiday. There were 2 other flights arriving around lunchtime with the others members of our group. Money can be exchanged at the hotel and today someone came on the coach to exchange money.Exchange rate was about 86 rupees to the pound.See you Friday.Peter
