It is very exciting to see new 2017 dates now up for many long haul tours!  However I see for some of them the availability seems to be very low - for example the Cambodia and Laos tour is showing just 8 places left for the new 2017 dates and the Mexico tour just 10 places (plus a huge hike in price!).  Is this a glitch or is there reduced availability on some tours next year or have there been some advance bookings before they were released to the public?!  I'm confused!

Great question - we haven't reduced the group sizes for 2017 and we are not holding any availability for a later release. We have just had a jiggle around of the numbers for the main tour and the add ons, for a couple of 2017 holidays.

For the Untold Cambodia & Laos tour, we offer 8 spaces for the departures in 2016 too and in fact we have actually increased the size of the add-on group for 2017, which takes the group size up to 18 people. For the Mysteries of Mexico, Guatemala and Belize tour, we are still offering 20 spaces, but again, we have increased the add on group size from 7 to 10 spaces.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Thanks for the info - I should have thought of that myself!!  Good to know that the groups won't be too small (if they sell out of course!).  Looking forward to more dates (and new tours!) appearing on the website over the next while.  Speaking of this, I do think it's high time the good folks at JY gave us a big clue as to one of the new tours that will be on offer for next year...

PS If anyone is thinking of doing the Mexico tour next year (which I really do recommend), I strongly advise that they do the add-on as well.  It was very welcome after a hectic tour and a lovely way to end the holiday.

Monty, is there any chance this glitch can be addressed - in the past, if I saw a holiday date as Sold Out I would immediately discount the trip, when in fact there may have been space available (and I would always do the add on.)

I asked about the website not showing the numbers of places available for add-ons ages ago and was told that the web team were looking into it then!  I agree with Katy, this is a really serious problem and JY must be losing out on sales by people who think a tour is sold out when there could be places available on an add-on.

I have passed your comments over to the web team here at JYHQ and this is still something that is on the to-do list. The way in which our booking system and the website link up is a little complicated, so will take some time to implement I am afraid.

Well would you look at that - I passed your suggestion on to the web team and there is now a note on all add-on tabs for those tours with an add-on. We are unable to put this note on the departures tab because it would show up for all holidays, even those without an add-on. Take a look at the following link for an example:
