Hi!

Already have a 2nd holiday booked with J/Y this year but looking at Calabria for next year, meeting up with new friends. Not happy with 4hr transfer from Naples, the brochure mentions a 1hr 30mins transfer from Lamezia is this an alternative or only used on certain dates?

Hi Roger T

At the moment we only offer Lamezia when we are unable to fly to Naples, as this route involves a stop over in Milan or Rome.

It might be something that is reviewed for next years departures but we will not know for a few more months.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Roger,

A long time ago I saw a thread on here from someone who decided not go to go Calabria because at that time JY were using Monarch Airlines into Lamezia, and Monarch were notorious for changing their flight times. Obviously I do not know what they are like now.

I am going to Calabria 31 August. I will post a review and try to remember to let you know what the transfer is like.

Perhaps someone who is going, or has already been will read this and let us know.

Regards

Sylvia

Hi Roger,

This is a really lovely tour, please don't be put off by the transfer time from Naples. It's a beautiful journey.

The issue with Lamezia is that there was a Monach flight direct from Gatwick but it the airline cancelled it. As Julia mentioned in her reply to your posting when we do fly to Lamezia it is currently with Alitalia from LHR via Milan or Rome - so although a shorter transfer to the hotel, it means a full day of travel with a long wait at the transit airport because of flight connection times. So actually a direct flight to Naples and then the longer coach journey results in you arriving sooner at the hotel!!

Anyone worrying about the transfer time shouldn't be put off, because as well as a beautiful journey it gives the TM time to tell you things that otherwise would have to be done in the hotel.

Calabria is a much less touristy part of Italy, incredibly beautiful and this is an interesting and leisurely tour.

Happy Travelling,

Sarah
