Good morning all,

I have just had my credit card company on the phone, and my card has been used fraudulently to the tune of £3746, which was used for travel and flights abroad. This is not the first time it has been used like this! On checking back my card statements, I am fairly sure it was at Terminal 5 Heathrow at one of the "shops within a shop" that my card was hacked - they said my first card wouldn't go through and asked for another card.

I know it is common sense, but always, always make sure that your card is in sight at all times - mine was, and I don't know how they did this. I was exchanging a watch which was damaged, and they put through a credit on my card as the replacement watch was cheaper. This happened back in January this year - on the way back from a JY holiday! Sometimes it can be a year before they use your card. Luckily I have a very good credit card company who monitor unusual activity.

Hopefully this won't happen to any of you, but just be extra vigilant, especially in busy airports!!

Cheers,

Hils

Oh dear Hils,

What a terrible experience. Did you manage to get all of the £3746 back? You cannot trust you card anywhere these days.

How are you feeling now? Is it healing ok.

Take care Julie (Calm Air Pal)

Hello Hils,

That must have been very worrying for you. Keeping a good eye on my credit card from now on- thanks for the heads up.

My daughter was out in Cambodia when trying to access money from an ATM. I received a call on the home phone saying she had a problem and this was the bank calling, gave me a number for her to call. Checked with her bank in person, number was a fraud. Frightening how this all works :@

Hi Calm Air Pal,

Luckily my credit card company are excellent, and I didn't pay for this fraud.

New hip seems to be getting on OK. I haven't been out of the house for over 4 weeks now, and am getting cabin fever! Surrounded by travel brochures, but can't book anything until I have seen the consultant again on the 16th. Heh ho!

Cheers,

Hils

This happened to me at Gatwick a few years ago. And in a well-known store chain! I couldn't believe that I was so stupid as to let my credit card out of my sight. I think that we must be particularly vulnerable at airports - so much happening to keep us off our guards. When my credit card company contacted me to tell me my card had been cloned I knew exactly where it had happened :(( Beware, beware.
