Hi everyone. I have only recently found just you. Although British, I am lucky enough to live in Spain, but still have the desire to travel to other countries, experience new cultures and to meet new people. I am thinking of a short haul, short break to start with, Greece or Italy maybe. What would the more experienced users recommend? Is it better to try out a short break or plunge head first into a long haul, longer holiday? I would love to hear your views.

Hi welcome to Just You! For my first holiday, I wasn't sure what to expect so I went to Andalucia, figuring that a short week long holiday would give me a taster as to what JY were like. I've since done 8 more holidays with them, mostly long haul - from China to South America! So I'd say just study the brochure/website and book whichever holiday appeals most to you. I haven't had a disappointing holiday with them and have three more booked!

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi Jacqui, I took the plunge on a 5 day festive break in Lake Garda recently. Had a great time, nice company, people of a like mind. It's a lovely area & I thought it best to try out a JY holiday just for a few days rather than a long haul one in case I didn't like it. Next time I would be more tempted to go further afield, knowing that I will get along ok with most people - there are bound to be the odd exception who don't want to mix, but any holiday is what you make of it - I say go for it! Hi Jacquie

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest jumping straight in at the deep end. Pick somewhere you have always dreamed of going - this will help with the inevitable pre holiday nerves as you can always say to yourself 'if it's really dreadful at least I'll see somewhere amazing'. Once you meet your fellow travellers at the airport you'll realise what a fab bunch of people they are and will have the trip of a lifetime. I guarantee that the day you arrive home you'll be reaching for the brochure to book the next one.

Welcome Jacquie

I have been using JY since 2006 and have my 11th tour booked for this year, I have travelled far and wide from Austria to New Zealand.. I would go where your heart leads you, my very first tour was to the USA, all I can say is go for it, great tours lots to see and do and great people to spend time with...if you have any questions please ask.

Hi Bob

Thanks for your advice, actually I smiled when I saw that your first trip was to Andalucia because that's where I live. I think you are right and I will start looking at what appeals most to me as it is very reassuring to hear how many trips you have been on and that you have never been disappointed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

kind regards

Jacquie

Thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I generally get along with most people as well and agree any holiday is what you make it. I'm looking at places I haven't been to and once I can fix some dates, I will definitely go for it.

kind regards

Hi Sally

Thanks for the welcome to the forum, it certainly has lots of interesting information. Great idea to pick somewhere I have always dreamed of, maybe I'll need to pick three or four, if, as you say, I'll be reaching for the brochure after my first trip.

Thanks for the advice

kind regards

Hi Cindy, wow, 11th tour, that really is encouraging to hear. I have been lucky to travel to a lot of countries, but there are still many I long to visit and going where my heart takes me sounds like great advice. Thanks for your prompt response to my post. All the replies I've had have been very positive. I think I'm off to view the brochure!!

kind regards

I would recommend the treasures of Apulia - really interesting and some great days out. Or maybe Calabria, for an amazing hotel and a relatively undiscovered part of Italy.

Hi Jacquie

Welcome to Just You Forum. I agree with Sally. Just pick a destination you always wanted to visit and book it. This is what I did for my first Just You holiday - always wanted to see Petra so went ahead and booked Jordan straightaway before I changed my mind. First time is always a bit daunting, but once you have done one trip, you will want to book another. Andalucía was my second Just You trip!

Happy Travelling.
