Hi, I am looking to book my first holiday alone for next June. Usually i travel with friends but as they are all couples a tend to feel a little out of place. So i have decided to bite the bullet and go it alone on my next Holiday. While a little apprehensive i am also exited by the prospect of being able to choose what I do what i want to do it for the first time in my life.

Hi Wanderer

You will not be disappointed. It is so nice to be able to choose what you want to do rather than fit in with others. Enjoy the freedom of choosing your own holiday!

Regards

:huh:Hi

Just joined this site today and been reading everyone's comments as I hope to take a trip abroad this year.

I am looking at the short breaks for my first adventure by myself either in Italy or Bruges.

Several years since I have been on a plane and need to buy lightweight luggage which is a very confusing depending on which air company you book with?

Welcome to the world of JY I am sure you will have a great time away. I have not been on this tour but have done many others. Any questions just ask. It might be worth you pasting a who else is going thread in the the main board, use ing the header Athens Tour 11.5.15 you might get more response that way. good Luck

Welcome to travelling hopefully with the JY family.

I have travelled in the highlights of Tuscany tour which I can recommend, I have also been in many other tours so if you require more information just ask.

Usually the luggage allowance in the hold is approx 20kgs so that's more than enough for 1 week away. I wouldn't bother buying a new case unless you have to they are expensive these days.

Have fun travelling.

Hi Rosemarie and welcome.

I have been on the Highlights of Tuscany trip. Nice hotel and lovely staff and food. All the sights are stunning.

May I also recommend the Cilento Coast trip. Awesome!

Hi, this time last year I was thinking of taking the plunge and booking a trip and didn't get further than the booking form. It's another new year and I've got the same idea again and been inspired by Syliva's review so I am definitely going to book a trip and see what happens! A friend told me that everyone else is in the same position but it's still a scary step to take. I'm determined to do it so watch this space.

Two years ago I was in the same position as many of you, having lost my husband in February 2012. A had never travelled alone, or even for that matter lived alone. I am in my mid-70's. I found JY and other singles holiday companies through an internet search and booked my first holiday with JY. Why I chose JY - I don't really know. Perhaps it was the choice of holidays, no single supplement, connection from my local airport, it just felt right.

I was so scared a few days before departure that I almost asked my doctor to sign me off sick so that I did not have to go and claim on the insurance! Sense prevailed because I really knew that she wouldn't do it.

You are really "on your own" until you get to the departure airport. Unless of course you have someone to travel with you, or take you to the airport. From there on you will have as much or as little company as you wish.

Fellow travellers are there for the same reason you are - it is somewhere they want to visit. Whether it is for the sights, architecture, history, food, culture, you have that in common at check-in.

I am so glad that I didn't call off that first holiday to France which was in May, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The age range, which was from about mid 30's to 80 really didn't matter, in fact I booked another for September to Calabria and thoroughly enjoyed that as well.

I have two holidays booked this year - though only one with JY, simply because JY do not go where I want to for the other trip.

In my limited experience JY's tour managers have been fantastic. The second hotel was far and away better than the first, but the first was very, very good.

Organisation from departure airport - resort(s) - return airport is smooth. Everything is done for you.

All you have to do is choose - read any reviews on the forum that you can find - book - pay - turn up - ENJOY!!

If anyone wants to contact me "off forum" JY have my email address.

Happy travelling.

Hello!

I am a Just You newbie and wanted to say hello and hopefully get a little advice. I am desperate for a holiday and have been looking at the North America (Yosemite, Grand Canyon, San Fran) trip this year. I have never done anything like this before and have the usual nerves and excitement!

Has anyone previously done this trip and can give me some advice and tips? Any help really appreciated.

Thanks Suzanne

Hello everyone

This is my first contact with JY, so just a bit about myself. I am a youngish 70s year old widow. My husband died a few years ago and since being left on my own, I have been on holidays with a friend as well as on my own. Last year I booked a Danube cruise which was thoroughly enjoyable and most interesting. Most people were very friendly, however, I was the only single passenger which has disadvantages especially on trips. I have booked a Rhone river cruise coming October but would like to go somewhere before October. I am not fussy where I go and would even consider somewhere in this country with the hope that the weather will be considerate. Does anyone have any advise they can give me. I am pretty flexible timewise and would appreciate any tips from the JY community.

Best wishes

Hi Natalie

Why don't you either get a Just You brochure or look online to see what is on offer. Just You have so many holidays to choose from that you will be spoilt for choice. I have been with Just You 8 times and have 3 trips booked for this year. Travelling with Just You is great as everything is taken care of and you do not have to worry about anything. Your fellow travellers are in the same boat - all travelling on their own. You will meet people of all ages and will have a great time. Hope you do find a holiday you like and book it.

Best wishes

Jaya

I am in a smilar situation to yourself. I have travelling with JY for 3 years now. It's good to be in the company of other single travellers, as Jaya says, we all in the same boat. Choose a short break "taster", or, dive straight into long haul, the choice is yours, just book it. With reps on hand to guide you through check in, everything is organised for you from then on. Oh, that makes it sound very regimented. Not the case at all, if you want to hang out with fellow travellers fine, but taking time out by yourself is fine too.

Hello, I went on several JY holidays a few years ago and then my finances went south, so now it's all sorted out I'm going again - they were truly lovely experiences and I met lots of new friends! People are so friendly and the tour guides are marvellous! I would recommend JY wholeheartedly and the range of holidays is tremendous, tho' I'm just going on City Breaks now (touring is a bit much for me at my age, I like to stay in one place so I can explore thoroughly!) - so it's New York and Istanbul for me this year, and who knows next year!!
