Hi Sylvia

I'm feeling quite excited now. Trust the men to have the better cameras. I just had a point and press one buy my husband liked all the technology toys and tools. Hope you enjoy your summer

Hi Carole,

Yes, excitement will build now. I am off to Austria, with another company in June, then Apulia with JY in September and Lake Garda with the other company for Christmas. The bug has bitten hard!

All the best

Sylvia

Thank you for a very inspiring and informative blog. Like you I was widowed 2 years ago and have set myself a goal to travel alone for the first time. Since losing my husband I have travelled with friends (just back from New Zealand visiting family) but ..... still need this challenge and Just You would seem to fit the bill. Istanbul is on my "bucket" list so I shall now bite the bullet. Thank you

Hi,

This will be my first holiday with JY, I am going on the Historic Malta tour on June 3rd, and am very apprehensive as I have never been on a JY holiday abroad before. It has taken me long enough to pluck up courage and join this forum.

I have just retired so that is a whole new world in itself too.

I suppose that this holiday is so different from anything I have ever done before and do not know what to expect.

Is there anyone reading this who has been on the Malta holiday or is going on the same trip as I am?

Hi ArchieKA

There is no need to be apprehensive. I think most people are the first time. I have been on this forum for about three years and i have never heard of a traveller whose nerves didnt dissipate once they got to the airport.Once you are there you start seeing people with the JY labels and you get chatting. What is important to remember is that everyone is in the same situation, and the holiday brings everyone together.

If you have any more questions, let me know!

Hi Archie

I am sure you will enjoy your holiday to Malta. I have been there but a very long time ago in the 70s. It was at a time when it was just becoming a tourist destination. I am sure lots of changes have taken place since then. Gozo is lovely so do go there if there is an opportunity.

Regards

Jaya

Hi, my name is Lyn and I shall be on this trip to Malta! I too am a little nervous but I am sure when we all meet at the airport we will relax. Where do you live? I am coming up from Bexhill.

Hi Lyn, I live in Whitwick, Leicestershire and will travel up on the 2nd and stay at a hotel near the airport that night. JY arrange that and parking at the hotel for the duration of the holiday. I will see you at the airport, be good to say hello. I may well have some breakfast at the airport as I am not too sure what we may have on the flight.

From the reassurances I have had from Mark and Jaya I am sure we will all be fine. Keith (Archie).

At 26 you would be in the younger age range, main group is 55-79 with younger and older either side....

If you have a tour and date in mind post on the editors board and Julia should be able to give you group size age range m/f ratio ..

I am 55 and have my 10th tour booked started using JY in 2006.. So if you have any questions just ask..

hello and welcome

I am not in this tour, I would suggest you start a new thread asking if anybody is going on the tour, or put Iceland into the search box and see what postings come up..

I have been in many tours but not Christmas ones so if you have any questions please just ask.

I did new year in Iceland 2013. I had a really good time, it's roughly the same itinerary so if you wanna know anything in particular let me know. Think it's the first time it has been done for Xmas.

I am 32 and enjoy these style of holidays. I have no one else to go with currently and I want to have some adventures! Yes you will prob be the youngest but I have never had trouble getting on with people and always find 1 or 2 to hang around with. I always go for the trips that have a full itinerary so that I'm not bored or having to fill in lots of free time. There are more younger people joining tho. I always ask what the makeup of a group is and I'm often one of the last too book for this reason, but as yet have not had a bad holiday and I've done 5 now.

If there's anything else you wanna know......otherwise pick the trip u wanna go on and book it!

Hi - my name is Chris and I am thinking of booking the 36 day Australia and New Zealand tour (might as well go for the big one!) in January 2015 if I haven't left it too late! I am nearly 62 and young at heart. Would love to chat with anyone else contemplating the same trip. Never been on holiday without my late partner or friends before and very excited.

That's very reassuring. Thank you. I have never been abroad alone befoer and it is very daunting indeed. My concern is arriving at the airport and not finding anyone going to Lake Como as I am and feeling totally on my own when boarding the plane, etc. I too have thought of cancelling my booking as the time draws near (7th July). I know this is cowardly and will, hopefully, get over it. Thank you again for your reassuring words.

you will be fine, it's always daunting at first, there will be a JY representative to see you thought the booking in at the airport, keep your luggage labels on your hand luggage, there a good starting point for a conversation, there might be more than one tour leaving on the same day. I can assure you, you will not be alone for long. Post a review when you get back it does help others. have fun. I started using JY in 2006 and I have seen the world with them. I have not been on the Lake Como tour but I do know it's a very popular tour.

As Cindy says, you will be fine. I did my first Just You holiday to Malta this June and had a great time. Keep a label on your hand luggage and you will soon spot others, or should do. I was very apprehensive about it all, and look back now and wonder what all fuss was about. I am looking at booking some more trips if not this year then certainly the next.

I've just returned from my first holiday alone having done the Canadian Rockies and Vancouver tour.

The organisation of Just You was wonderful. They met you at the airport and helped with check in etc. I met a lovely lady Liz at the airport and another on the coach Ros and we became firm friends for the trip. I haven't laughed so much in ages.

The tour manager rotated the seats on the coach the first week so we got a chance to chat with other people. They were a great bunch on this trip and of all ages. The 87 year old was full of life and enthusiasm and up for anything.

We packed an awful lot in I can't believe just how much so be prepared not to have a lie in. It was a fabulous holiday; great laughs, great scenery, fabulous food and an entertaining and very well organised Tour Manager. If you're in doubt just go! Everyone is friendly and in the same situation as you often. Everyone makes an effort to be jolly and good company. I'm going on another trip next year but haven't chosen yet.
