Hi folks

I've just received my brochures today, and have browsed the website, and I'm still not sure.

My husband died last year, so I'm taking the first steps on my own. I booked two holidays with a rival company, and felt so let down. The holiday itself was fine, I got on well with the other guests, the host was great -- but the travel arrangements were shambolic to say the least.

I was one of the oldest on the holiday, but I'm fit, and that wasn't a problem.

I've cancelled the second holiday, and am now thinking of trying Just You. Bur a) most European holidays seem to be booked up, and I haven't the confidence for long-haul yet, and b) I'm scared.

Help!

I also lost my husband and my mother last year so I decided to take the plunge and have booked to go to Kenya in October. I was scared having never done this before but, fortunately, I met a lady at the weekend in Leeds, who has since booked to go on the same holiday and we are travelling together. I also met another lady on the same weekend and we are now going to Malta together. Don't worry, I'm not!!!!!:D

Hi Skye

I've just joined also and am thinking of Chrismas in either Bruge or Stratford but I'm not sure how brave I am as it will be my first solo holiday.

Best wishes

Hi Skye,

And welcome to JY. Oh dear, my heart goes out to you. I know what you must be feeling and am so sorry that your first holiday as a single was not all you hoped it would be. My first was with Just You (and I honestly cannot remember how I got to hear of JY) so I was lucky. I have not looked back since.

Ok -

a) don't be scared to do a long-haul first - there really is no need to worry. I have done Russia and China and both have been amazing. Your tour manager will take really good care of you and make sure you don't feel left out. It is so safe for women (which is really important) - men too I hasten to add.

b) don't be scared to take that first step - we have all done it - and never looked back. Don't let that one bad experience affect you. There are so many wonderful places for you to see. So pick something you really fancy and go for it!!!

I wish you a really wonderful holiday. I would be interested to know what you chose.

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Lesley

PS: I am off to Sorrento for my birthday in Sept (my 3rd JY trip this year)

Thanks everyone. My flight has been confirmed, so it's all systems go. I'll let you know how I get on.

I really hope it works, there are so many holidays in the brochure I'd love to do next year.

I'm also thinking of Christmas, how early do you have to book? Ideally I'd like to wait to see how I get on with this one first.
