To all those thinking about taking their first holiday alone. I know it can be scary. Let's face it, anything in life for the first time is.When I found myself alone after always having someone to go with, I kept putting off the idea although I really wanted to see the world. Then a friend of mine said: 'At the moment you have 2 choices - you either go alone or not at all'. Eventually, I took the cautious option and went on a Discovery Weekend. I can highly recommend these, they are well organised and great value. Also because you're on 'home soil', if you decide going on holiday alone is not for you, you are not far from home and the 3 days is not too long to have to deal with ,yet is enough time for you to know if you can 'cope' on a longer holiday.

Looking back now, I can honestly say that the Discovery Weekend was the scariest holiday - simply because it was the first! Remember that everyone else feels the same way and once you sit down to dinner the fears seem to melt away! I have since done 3 'Just You' holidays, and have just booked to go to South Africa next year. All have been brilliant!

Remember, 'Just You' gives single travellers the chance to see the world but removes the possible discomfort of being alone amongst couples with other tour operators. You will never be on your own unless you choose to be. So don't sit around until you're too old and incapable of travelling then wishing you had taken that chance. Go for it!

Well said Penny. I totally agree with you. I'm off to China and Andalucia next year.

:thumbup:thanks Penny for the encouragement. I always rely on others' schedules or do it only whenever/wherever they want to and therefore ends up doing nothing when I got the itch for having some fun. Thank you for your thoughts and informations
