I'm going to China, and really excited, I wondered if anyone knew what would be good to buy while I'm there? I hear jade and pearls but i'm not that rich!

Oh yes plenty of shopping on offer. Silk is good, likewise jade, but also paintings and if you go on the train - that is a real shoppers paradise and such good fun. And not expensive.

China is really action-packed, but you will really enjoy yourself.

Local currency, travellers cheques or card (considering charges etc)?

Yuan for small things, drinks etc. but you can use your credit card if you want to buy larger items. I am not sure about travellers cheques.

You only need a small amount of yuan before you go as the exchange rate is better in China and everyone has to give the same rate.

The hotel reception will change sterling for you and there are ATMs. Your tour manager will help if you have any problems.
