Hi Olly

I am thinking of booking the China trip but could you confirm whether I need vaccinations before going? Also are drinks with meals included in the total price so I know how much spending money to take.

Many thanks

Aled

Hi Aled

I would urge you to talk to your GP about vaccinations as he or she will know your medical history.

Drink are not included but just about all of your meals and excursions are, so you won't need a lot of spending money.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

Hi Olly,

I am going to China on 25th April flying down to Heathrow by BA from Glasgow. I notice on the community website that someone said they flew from Manchester to Heathrow and were able to book their luggage from Manchester straight through to Beijing although the flights were with different airlines. Will I be able to do this from Glasgow? I fly into terminal 5 and out to China from terminal 3 . Who is the Tour Guide on our trip.

Regards,

Eileen L

Hi Eileen

Your tour manager will be John Drylie.

Check-in staff will tell you whether you need to collect your luggage at Heathrow and recheck it but if you let me know your booking reference I can ask a colleague for you.

Kind regards

Hi Olly

Can you advise on the best times weather wise for China please? I have read about the varying climates across the country but would want to go when quite pleasant and not having to take a mixture of clothing types, having to wrap up and then be quite warm somewhere else?

Not sure how the 3 locations vary and thinking of future hols!

Thanks,

Elaine,

Hi Elaine

The most pleasant months are in spring and autumn, when it isn't too hot or too cold and the temperature are similar in the three places you visit. It's likely to range from around 15 - 25 degrees at this time of year.

For more information have a look at this website:

Hi Eileen

You will need to recheck your baggage at Heathrow for your flight to China. Unfortunately BA and Air China do not have an agreement to check through bags for each other.

Hello Aled,

I actually had my vaccinations this week with the nurse at my doctors's surgery. She recommended Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Tetanus.

Hope this helps. I am going on the China trip on August 8th, so may or may not see you then.

Hi Olly,

Thanks for info. Pity I cannot book my luggage through from Glasgow to Beijing. Do I have to provide my own transport from terminal 5 to terminal 3 Heathrow is my biggest worry of my holiday

Hello Eileen,

Olly is on holiday at the moment, so I hope you don't mind me stepping in to answer your question.

You will have to get yourself from Terminal 5 to 3, but it is very easy and quick and wont cost you anything. Below is the instructions from the Heathrow about the various ways you can get there... (Heathrow Central is where Heathrow Terminal 3 is)

Use Heathrow Express trains for a free transfer between Heathrow Central and Terminal 5. This quick, convenient service runs every 15 minutes and the journey takes about three minutes. Please ensure you board the correct train as Heathrow Express also runs non-stop to London Paddington.

Heathrow Central is between Terminals 1 and 3, which are a few minutes' walk away via underground walkways and are signposted from the platforms. The Terminal 5 rail station is in the basement of the terminal and linked to check-in and arrivals by express lifts.

Alternatively, the 441 bus provides a free transfer between the terminals, taking 10 and 20 minutes. The N9 night bus, which runs between 23:55 and 04:55 (times vary at weekends), also takes ten minutes.

Services stop at the Terminal 5 bus station (next to the terminal) and the Heathrow central bus station (between Terminals 1 and 3).
