Hi All

Anyone any ideas how much spends we'll need? This is a trip of a lifetime for me and I might never get back so don't want to skimp. Don't have a clue how much the optional trips are.

Hi Babs,

Was wondering myself. Went into 'Ask your editor' page - page 2 under America's Golden West 7.3.11 by BGray.

You will find a great list of excursions (last years prices ?).

Please sit down before reading it. Lots n lots of money required.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Babs

I am considering doing this trip. Will also be travelling from Scotland as I live in Motherwell near Glasgow. If I go, this will be my second JU holiday. Went to China last year and had a great time. Group were very friendly and holiday was very well organised and good value ror money.

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

I am going on the same trip. I have been booked since last year. I will be flying from Edinburgh to Heathrow. I live in Dundee, Hope you can come.

Edna

Hi Edna

Perhaps we could travel together from Edinburgh. Will contact JU to find out if I can change flight from Glasgow.

Hi Babs

I think we will probably need about £500 for meals drinks, some optional trips, souvenirs etc. Trips could be quite expensive-particularly helicopter ride over Grand Canyon so my guess may be way out!!!

I went to the US last year.

Las Vegas and San Francisco. I took with me $700, but spent more.

Also pre booked some trips, but to be honest it would have been worth NOT pre booking as there are many tours on offer.

MY advice is, book the POPULAR one in advance and pay the extra, if its a trip in a life time then you dont want to miss out.

Helicopter rides: I really would pre book any way, due to the fact they cant hold many people in one go.

I pre booked a nice trip via With was a flight over the Hoover dam, a helicopter ride in to the grand canyon, a boat ride up the Colorado river and a bus to a couple of nice view points (one being where the Sky Walk is located.

it cost be about $300 from memory. But VERY worth the money!

www.alllasvegastours.com or www.allgrandcanyontours.com ( i think, google them) They offer some really great rates!

Who ever is going on this.....PLEASE PLEASE visit the Cheese Cake Factory! ..... *drools thinking about it* YUMMMMY indeed!!

Hi Lesley,

Have just posted excursion prices (last years) on thread. Grand Canyon varies from $204 to $448.00.

I have managed to get a menu (but no prices) for the Ihop diner which is next door to The Raddison in San Francisco. Quite a selection. Dont think it will be that expensive.

Hi Neil, I've booked the 19th Sept, American West, travelling down to Heathrow from Newcastle. This is my 1st "just you" holiday. Hard to know what to expect, but with like minded people wanting to travel to the same place the opportunity will be there to make new friends, enjoy the sights and sounds, and, have fun sharing the experience.

best wishes

Colin
