Hi Julie, what's the recommendation for Mt Fuji? is it likely to be cold or do we need hiking boots?? Also while I know we pay in Japan for those optional trips, do they take credit cards for payment as I don't wish to take endless yen with me? Thks, V

Hi Velma,

Glad you received your docs.I totally agree about the very expensive optional tour of Hiroshima.I phoned JY about this yesterday,as I thought this would have been inclusive .

Hi Velma, I am taking warm clothing, espcially going up mountains, you can always take a layer off if need be. I hope hiking boots will not be neccessary! The Mount Fuji trip needs to be paid in Yen, the Hiroshima by credit card. I am not sure if I will go to Hiroshima, see what else is available when we are there.

Hi all

Got mine to so really excitted now. I am not sure about the Hiroshama trip I know I don't want to look at a museum about what happen as I don't need to be reminded how man can be so distructive. Anyway I am on my hols and Kyoto is such a fantastic place it maybe nice to spend the day there.

I meant to tell you all to watch NHK News on Sky. Its in English and has great programs on Japan, the news and the weather. I watch it all the time as I record some of the programs.

Wesley not sure how much time we will have at mt Fuji but you do need walking boots and water proofs as the weather can change very quickly (like most mountains).

Julie how are you getting to the airport from folkstone? I know its a bit of a trip I used to live in Whitstable so have been to Folkstone a few times.

Hi all, I am excited too! I don't think this time of year you can get very far up Mt Fuji and by description it sounds like we won't be walking much so I think I'll leave the hiking boots at home, they are too bulky. I suppose I want to go to Hiroshima because I was in Pearl Harbour in 2001 and found it v interesting. Have you all booked your seats on Emirates?

Hi All,

Jayne thanks for the advice but I will not be bringing walking boots because of Baggage Limit of 20kg for connecting flight from Belfast with BMI,they are too bulky as Velma has mentioned .

Velma, we have all booked this tour with JY,so travelling via Emirates is part of the package.I assume everyone else is in agreement?

sorry Wesley, what i meant was have you all chosen your actual seat on the aircraft! It is pretty easy to look up airline website and then 'manage booking', and choose seats for all 4 flights.

HiJayne, I am travelling to Heathrow by taxi. My son is able to meet me and bring me home when we return. A taxi is expensive, but easier and more comfortable than going by train which would include changing once if not twice, not easy with luggage.

Hi Velma,

Thanks for the clarification.I do not mind where I am seated actually!! ,but would like to know where other members of our tour group are seated on all 4 flights including yourself. If our group is together I suppose it would be better.I have travelled on my own lots of times so it is not essential as far as I am concerned

Velma,

You are correct regarding are main baggage which is checked thru to Tokyo International from Belfast City Airport. This was confirmed when I checked the details on BMI website and by phone earlier.

The JY operator was unable to confirm this at the time a few weeks ago, so I assumed we had to collect at Heathrow.Sorry for any confusion.

rows 53,39,19 and 53 again respectively, for me, Wesley! I tend to like aisle seats on long flights, saves disturbing folks if you want to stretch the legs.

Thanks Velma..now I know what seats to keep a discreet distance from..haha..only kidding.

I will let you know next Wed at Belfast City Airport, the seats I have selected which are near to yours. Thanks for your advice on this.
