Hello

The E111 was replaced a couple of years ago by the EHIC - European Health Insurance Card.

My understanding is that this card won't completely cover you but is worth having, although I would strongly advise you to talk to your GP, as they will know a lot more about it.

The EHIC card covers short-term trips around Europe and Switzerland, giving you access to the same basic national healthcare received by locals, sometimes for a small charge. It covers non-emergency care for existing and chronic conditions.

You should still arrange travel insurance, as the EHIC card will not cover costs associated with transportation home, expenses for relatives or accommodation costs in the event of emergency.

For more info and to apply for an EHIC card, visit

You might also find this page helpful, as it includes a summary of the insurance options available for people with heart conditions:

I hope this helps.

Kind regards
