How exciting to get a reply to my message!! I too have been putting off booking my holiday as the thought of going away on my own terrifies me. Saying that, i'm sure that everything will be fine once I get there - it's the first step that's the hardest. I will definitely let you know how I get on and, hopefully, this will give you some reassurance for your holiday.

Your holiday sounds wonderful. Don't worry about what to do at the airport, i'm sure it will all become clear nearer the time. Just tell yourself that if others can do it, you can too!

Re meeting at airports.

I have done two trips one from LGW, just qued in line with all the rest did sit next to a lady from the group but really meet the group at the destination side which was Poland.there was a rep at check in to cross me of the list.The rep flew out with us but not home,

From LHR to USA, there was a rep by check in to cross me of the list, then as long haul we had use od Complimentary lounge so get talking to people look for the JY luggage lables and introduce yourself and the tour rep flew out with us so he was going round intruducing himself.

I find you dont start to really meet people till you arrive the other end, but this is not a problem take my word as once you all start chatting you bond so fast. I wish you a great holiday, the two I have taken have been so worth it.

I did my 'first time' in Barcelona back in April - fantastic.

Just wanted to let you know that I booked the pre-holiday get-together/hotel stay at the Airport and met the Tour Manager and

approx 8 other people on the same holiday. I would recommend

that as the day you fly you have already made friends (some I

keep in touch with) you are accompanied to the Airport and don't

have to worry about 'bumping in to others'.

I am going away on 22nd October on the Northern Cyprus holiday

flying from Heathrow and have again booked the pre-holiday get-

together. It's certainly worth the extra money.

I too live in Northern Ireland. As yet I have not plucked up the courage to book anything so will be interested to hear about your ventures. I hope you have a wonderful trip. It's a shame there is not a live chat facility on the site as it would be nice to 'chat' in real time and for fellow first timers to give each other some moral support!

At last I have actually booked my trip for May 2008. Rocky Mountaineer with Alaskan Cruise add on. Fingers crossed it all works out.

Hope you're having a relaxing week off. I have 1 week to work and then off for a fortnight so looking forward to a rest. I am off to Edinburgh for a couple of days then to London. Going on my own which I don't mind at all yet so nervous about travelling with JY. I hope it all works out as there are so many other places I'd love to see eventually.

I'll certainly look out for your posts on your return from China. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful time. Even the thought of making the connection at heathrow is spookng me a bit but deep breath, think postitive and I am sure we'll do fine.

I am 41 by the way, work locally as a nurse.

have just read your messages im also from northern ireland not far from janice i live in carnmoney. im going to sicily at the end of august feeling very nervous as this is my first time away on my own. ive booked for the pre get together as the flight out is very early and hopefully il meet some of the people il be on holiday with. i hope to book for next year if everything goes well ive been looking at americas golden west and northern cyprus. hope to hear from the both of you all the best

Only 5 weeks to go Christine! I am excited for you. Sounds like a wonderful trip, I am sure you will love it and make many new friends. Small world really when you think you just work across town from me. It would probably be easy enough to locate each other at work numbers although Musgrave is a big enough place. Might be easier to get me at Tramways Medical Centre!
