Thank you Kezzer and yes, but the company they suggested only goes up to £5000 so not much help even though at the time of booking they suggested these people. I have spoken to JY since who can't really help me!

American Express (Tel: 0800 028 7573) offer cancellation cover up to £12,500 pp.

Post Office (Tel: 0330 123 3690) offer cancellation cover up to £10,000 pp.

Insure and Go (Tel: 0330 400 1383) offer cancellation cover up to £10,000 pp.

I did a search on the internet and came up with a site that offered advise:  A number of providers offer policies that give higher levels of cancellation cover:

I am lucky enough to have booked this amazing trip but am struggling to find travel insurance that will cover the cost of the holiday + visas and optional excursions. At the moment I have only paid the deposit but if I have to cancel the trip say, 10 days before departure I would lose all monies paid which at that time would be considerable. I can only seem to get cancellation cover up to £10000, any ideas?

I have annual travel insurance with Liverpool Victoria. They are excellent to deal with & have topped the Which magazine recommended list. Their Premier policy has cancellation cover up to £10,000.
