Hi, I'm new to this board and newly single after 26 years of marriage. I would like to start travelling on my own again and am interested in a holiday for next year. I've never been to Portugal (would like to try the Sardines as many people rave about them!!), and wondered if anyone has been to any of the resorts. I also love Greece, went there once and would like to try to visit again. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

Hi Gina!

Just look at the holidays on the web and request a brochure. Find the holiday that suits you and GO FOR IT. You will find that the others are all in similar circumstances to yourself.

I have been a couple of times so far and will be going with JY again.

If you have any reservations, it could be worth your while considering going to one where you can meet some of your fellow travellers by going to the premeet B&B before departure. That's what I did my first time and found it helped me. Now I have no hang ups about going direct from my nearest airport. It all depends on how you feel about your 1st time.

Hope this helps.

Bill A.

Many thanks for your reply Bill. I've just asked for a brochure. I did think about going to the premeet as it sounds very helpful in getting to know fellow travellers.

Looking forward to a holiday in 2009!

Hi Gina

Like you I am newly single, but after 33 years of marriage. I was nervous about going on a holiday alone too and so booked the Amsterdam & Bulbs 4 day trip in April as I figured that a short trip was a good way to start. Then I thought I could build myself up from there.

I hope you go ahead and book something and have a wonderful time. Seize your courage with both hands and take the plunge!
