Hi

Has anyone out there been on the Istrian Coast trip? Was it good? More importantly was the hotel good?

I am thinking of booking this so would be really grateful for any feed back.

Hello, Jools

This is one of the holidays I have earmarked in my 2014 brochure. If you go onto the "Reviews" section you will find, not too far down the first page, someone's (sorry, can't remember who) review of their recent holiday plus one or two other comments. The holiday gets the thumbs up. I also checked the hotel out on Trip Advisor and it scores well.

So don't hang about - if you fancy it, go for it!

Hi Jools,

I did this trip two years ago and have absolutely fallen in love with the area. I have posted a review and i think the only thing that has changed is the hotel which i believe is better. Im dying to go on the makarska riviera one but am waiting for a suitable date!

Book it, you wont regret it!

I was there in September and it was one of the best JY trips I have been on. Lovely harbour area, the hotel is great hotel and is really close to the shore/beach. Only think to look out for - some of the optional trips have really long coach rides there are back, and if you do all the trips, you would have very little time to spend in Rabac itself.

Hello Jools

I did this trip in May this year and really enjoyed it. I posted a review on my return. It's on Page 4 of the Review section.

I can help with any other queries, just ask.

Regards

Jean

It's a lovely trip. Fine hotel with good food, not a lot to Rabac (although I adore the place) history wise, but plenty of bars,, cafes and restaurants and the people are so welcoming. Crystal clear water, nice scenery and relatively cheap prices.

The trips I went on (Istrian Discovery and the boat trip), are good value and give you a good taster of the area. Yes some of the other trips (Plitvice, which is incredible) and Venice (which I have never done) are long days but well worth while. Because I knew the area I chose to spend some of my time chilling out and just enjoying Rabac but that was my choice.

By the way, the local Tour Manager "V" is a gem.

I went in June and thoroughly enjoyed it. Basically echoing the above and reviews elsewhere, the hotel is very good, with comfortable rooms, lots of facilities and a variety of interesting food. The Tour manager Vlatka ('V') is a lovely warm lady, very knowledgable and clearly proud of her country and especially Istria. Nothing was too much trouble for her. I would echo the comment about the trips, I imagine if you went on every one it could be rather tiring.

I agree with everything Bosuncat says. The Italian influence is very evident in this area, especially the ampitheatre at Pula!

You'll love it! Google the places you visit and look at the images and you'll want tyo go even more.

Vlatka should be knighted!!!

Hi

This trip does look tempting. What's the weather like in May?

The trips sound good but a few have mentioned that some might be a bit long and tiring. It would be really useful to have this kind of detail in the trip descriptions.

If you had to choose, which trips would you recommend? The Postiano caves sound worth a visit. As do a few places not on this particular itinerary such as Krk waterfalls and Dubrovnik. Does anyone know if the Venice trip goes in May or if it's too early?

Any comments on food in Croatia? I've read a few negative reviews about food in some of the hotels.

Hi Gwenny. Rabac is a bit of a favourite of mine. I have been 3 times but only once with .

First of all the food. The hotel in question has buffet meals and there is a wide wide choice both for breakfast and evening meal. Eating out also offers a large choice too. You certainly wouldn't go hungry.

The last time I went was n early May 2 years ago and the weather was good on the whole We only had one rainy morning but it soon cleared up. It wasn't baking hot but certainly warm enough on a couple of days to sunbathe. I have been in September when it was very warm. Just the luck of the draw really.

I went on the included Istrian Discovery trip which was a full day but not tremendously tiring and you do see a lot in the day.

I have been to the caves in the past but only when I was in Slovenia so it wasn't a full day trip

The waterfalls at Plitvice are wonderful although I didn't go this last time. Long journey well worth it.

Certainly the Venice trip was operating in the May when I was there but it is a VERY long day and I think dependent on sea conditions.

Anything else I can help with please let me know. It's an excellent holiday and a really good hotel.

Thanks, it definitely sounds tempting. I think Venice might be better as separate trip. Unfortunately there don't seem to be many flights from Manchester to Croatia, so I may have to choose a different destination, unless I decide to do it solo.

Hi,

Here is my review.

I loved every second of the holiday and JY have hit jackpot with the tour manager, Vlatka!

What a horrendous website! I'm booked on the Croatia Istrian Coast holiday from 21 to 28 May. Am looking forward to it, although a bit nervous of travelling on my own for the first time. Anybody out there on the same holiday?

Oh, dear, Maureen! It really isn't a horrendous website! Just takes a bit of getting used to and, because the Editor needs to keep an eye on what is posted, anything which you write after about 5.30 pm or over the weekend has to wait until she gets in the following or Monday morning.

There is no need to be nervous about the holiday - everyone has been a first timer at some point and JY does take care of you.

As to your query about your holiday in late May, you would probably be better posting another query in the "Say hello to single travellers" section, with the name of the holiday and the date you are going, where it would stand out. But please bear in mind that, although a lot of folk look at the Forum, not everyone posts onto it and (from my own experience) not everyone who goes on a JY holiday even knows about it, though we are all trying to make it more widely known. So if you don't get a response, don't be despondent - just look out for the Just You greeny-yellow/yellowy-green luggage labels at the airport and make sure that yours is visible on your hand luggage.

Whatever response you get (or not), do have a lovely holiday. I'm going on this one, too, but not on the same date as you.

This website is fine, what is it you are having problems with, maybe we can help you.

I think you will get more of an answer if you ask this question on say hello page and not this section which is share your travel tips.

I have my 10th tour booked but have not been on your tour, if I can help with anything then just ask.

Hi Cindy,

My working life revolves around negotiating websites and I can assure you, this one is the worst! I hope my holiday is a better experience.

Hi, I'm thinking of booking the Croatia's Istrian Coast holiday in September. Has anyone been at this time of year and what's the weather likely to be? I've never been on a singles holiday and I'm worried I'll be the only single person there. Is it possible to find out how many have booked for September?
