Good Afternoon,

Currency Information

We recommend that you take Sterling or Euros, preferably in cash as US Dollars are not accepted as legal tender in shops and businesses. You will have to exchange your Sterling/Euros into convertible currency on arrival and pay a commission fee. Convertible Cuban Peso is not traded outside of Cuba therefore you have to take Pound Sterling or Euros to convert on arrival.

Please also note that travellers have recently experienced difficulties using Capital One and MBNA credit cards. Commission is applicable locally to credit card transactions, including cash withdrawals from ATM machines, of approx 11%-13%. Do not rely on your debit card as cash points which take Cirrus and Switch cards are rare outside of Havana.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Mildred

Hi Geoffrey

I went to Cuba a couple of years ago. The hotels will be able to change £ sterling or Euros for you. The more remote ones might not have currency readily available but will get some for you for the next day, so plan changing up wisely!

Have a great trip.

Sylvia
