Hello

I would be grateful if you could explain how JY decides on the price for each holiday. I understand that there will be a seasonal price difference, but my question relates directly to the difference in prices for 2015 and 2016. I am very keen to visit Japan and book the Hong Kong add-on. When looking at the price of the holiday, despite both the Japan tour and the Hong Kong City break being cheaper in 2016, the combined price when both are booked together is more expensive than 2015. I'm wondering if this is an error on the website or a true reflection of the cost for 2016? I have travelled on a few JY holidays now and having enjoyed everyone I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new brochure before I make my final decision for 2016.

Thanks.

Hi Taffy,

The costs for Japan main tour have decreased year on year, mainly due to the advantageous exchange rate with the YEN at present.

Unfortunately Hong Kong has not benefitted in the same way.

As you can imagine, a considerable part of our add-on costs is the flights. Usually these increase year on year. Without the exchange rate saving of the main tour for Japan this has meant that the main tour decreases in cost, but the add-on increases. I believe there are some dates which have decreased when taking both the add-on and main tour – Sept and October 2016 to name specific departures have both reduced by £200 (compared to 2015) when taking the add-on.

I hope this helps and if you need any more information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kindest Regards,

Monty

Hi Monty

Thank you for your reply. It is the October 2016 departure that I am interested in. I understand that flights are a big part of the expense and totally outside of JY's control. I'm not sure if there is a glitch on the website or if I'm am misunderstanding what you are saying but the October 2016 departure with the add-on is £100 more expensive than 2015, despite the October 2016 departures for the main tour and the stand alone Hong Kong City break showing a price reduction of £300 and £100 respectively.

Thanks.

Hi there Taffy,

This is an error our end - with the transfer of data from our system to the website, the new pricing was loaded for the main tour but not the add-on. We have now amended this accordingly, which will show on the website tomorrow.

This is a very good spot and I would like to say a big thank you for alerting us!!

I am so sorry for any inconvenience and confusion this has caused.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Hi Monty

Thank you for getting to the bottom of that one!! I think I also need to say thank you to BGray as without his post on price reductions I would never have looked into the priceof the Japan tour so closely.

Now all I need to do is wait for the new brochure, although I'm pretty sure it's Japan & Hong Kong for me next year.

Thanks again,

Taffy.
