Hello Angie fs
We are unable to advise on whether or not you should take Malaria tablets, please speak to your GP or practice nurse will be able to offer guidance on this based on the latest travel advice and your medical history.
You are travelling to a region where mosquitoes are present and would advise that you purchase high performance mosquito repellent to use regularly during your holiday (subject to consultation with a qualified pharmacist). We would also suggest a 'plug in' mosquito repellent device. The National Advisory Committee on Malaria Prevention recommends using DEET based repellents with a concentration of over 20% as these give a longer duration of protection than other types currently available.
Some people on the community have mentioned that they don't get on very well with DEET, so it is worth testing this product before you travel just in case you need to find an alternative repellent.
Kindest regards,
Julia
