Hello

I have never travelled alone before, and am considering it for next year. I am looking at somewhere in Europe not too far for first time alone.

Any body got reassurances or tips or advice for me?

Welcome I have my 10th tour booked with JY I started travelling with them in 2006. A very safe way to travel great tours and people to meet along the way. European holidays I have done highlights of Tuscany, Austrian Lakes, Poland and the Tatra Mountain, not sure they still do that Poland tour, all three tours have been excellent, and not to hectic all the other tours I have done have been more hectic, USA Kenya New Zealand etc..advice pick some where you really want to go to and then book it near or far. Everyone does mix in all ages get in well normally more ladies then gentlemen, if there is anything else you need to know just ask.

Hello,

I've recently joined JustYou and booked my first holiday - the National Parks, Mount Rushmore, etc Tour on the 7th October.

I lost my partner last August so this is my first proper holiday without him for 8years. I hate flying and want to go on a rail holiday, I love river cruising...all suggestions would be really welcome. This is all so new.

Welcome to the world of JY travelling, I have been on many JY tours near and far, and I have met so many people in your position, my suggestion would be sit down with a cuppa and really look through the brochure I am sure there will be a holiday that touches your heart, where have you always dreamed of going.

Regarding the flying issue..I to HATE flying, to me it's just so un natural, but if I had not flown I would not of seen. Ayres Rock, Sydney opera House etc in OZ, and the beautiful country that is NZ.

If you have any questions then please ask and I or someone else I am sure can help you.

Let us know which tour you have chosen. Have fun.

Hello all....

I'm Steve. 49yo. Been married 20y. Have had some good holidays in the past.

Recently my wife has said she cannot fly. (She developed a feat of flying).

I'm getting desperately lonely now and am considering holidaying on my own, but I don't want to be lonely while on holiday.

I don't know if this resonates with anyone on here, but I'd be interested to know if I'm in a minority of one or if we're all in the same boat so to speak.

I look forward to hearing from some people who may be in a similar situation.

Kind regards,

Steve.

Hello Steve and welcome

I like you am married but my husband is not interested in touring and seeing the world, he loves just to laze in the sun all day...so I travel with JY to see the world on tours.

You sure won't be lonely, you will end up spending a great time with new holidays friends some you might keep in touch with others you won't. It works really well. I have been using JY since 2006 and have my 10th and 11th tours booked, I tend to book the full on touring tours so there are things to do all day. people buddy up and go for meal or some tours the evening meal is included so you will eat together.

My advice is have a look at the tours really read up on what's included meal wise and excursions etc, you can post in the editors board or ring the office and if you have a tour and date in mind they can give you an idea in M/F ratio age and tour size, I have travelled from Austria Kenya Safari and New Zealand and many USA tours. if you have any questions just ask.

Hi all

I haven't planned a holiday yet because I've no idea where I want to go; ideally I'd like somewhere warm because I'd like to go over the Christmas period. So not only is it daunting going by myself, I've never been abroad either. For various reasons it's something I'd never done yet there's so many places around the world that I've seen on tv that I think would be great to go to, but now that I want to, I can't think where to go!

I've only ever flown within the UK so am not unfamiliar with flight though I have to admit to not liking the idea of being on a flight of 4+ hours! I think I'd need to take some form of medication to keep me calm! lol

Any advice from you wonderful people to this absolute beginner would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I'm a newbie, who hasn't actually been on holiday yet.

I'm heading for The Silk Road in October and would like to get in touch with anyone else on the same trip!

I'm also totally new to this kind of forum so apologies for any inadvertent faux pas.

Hi Everyone

I have just received a book and looking at a few options for my first adventure, maybe Italy tour. I am a young 53 years old and was wondering what sort of average age group would normally be on a trip like this? I am hoping it would be a good mix of between 30 to 70.

Thanks

Steve

Hello,

I've often searched for travel agencies catering for lone travellers as the total-walletectomies, as performed by generalist agencies on solo travellers, feel abusive.

Somehow, I never noticed this site. The list of destinations they use must create a logistical nightmare; there seem very few places JFY don't visit.

While reading through some threads, I took note of your impressive travel resume, and so choose you as 'stalkee' for the day (I was about to say, 'don't worry there is no such word', but a quick check with Mr Google revealed that it exists!).

The company sounds very well organised and appropriately customer focussed. I read about a few minor irritations,

but no-one seemed to let these put them off. A couple of posts, some yours, had me wondering whether the tours try to fit in too many excursions.

To my mind, a few days of partial sloth are a sine qua non of the successful holiday (especially skiing). Would one be able to insert periods of intense inactivity into the schedule, or are the timetables particularly rigid?

Many thanks,

Andrew
