Hello everyone : )

I'm thinking on going on a solo holiday for the first time, even though I'm 31! I've been on 7+ day escorted holidays before, but with my sister. I really need a holiday, however I'm quite a anxious person, so is a Just You holiday good to start off my 'solo' adventures?

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm thinking of the 'Highlights of Tuscany' tour sometime in May.

Thanks.

Hi,

I did this tour last year, it was great. Some long days but worth it, Trip to Florence, Siena, Pisa, etc culture overload! if you like History, you'll love this toue. The optionals are also worth doing, the day trip to Elba was really nice, only 1 hour ferry ride, Elba's a lovely island.

The hotel is not 4 star but it's nice, claen and fins for a weeks stay, the owners and staff are really friendly, they make the holiday even better. The food is up and down, some of it is great, some not so, but never bad, down to personal taste, but portions are generous and as much as you want. The tour guide if Jonathan, is really friendly and knowledgable, knows his stuff and takes good care of the group.

A great taste of Tuscany, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Thank you both for your welcomes and advice. :D

I suppose the next hurdle is trying to bite the bullet and actually book the holiday!

I also wanted to ask about the language barrier. Can you get by with very basic and limited Italian? I assume the cities would have a few English speakers.

Thanks.

don't worry there is no problem with language, the local tour guides speak much better English than I do Italian. You will be fine

Hi,

I am looking forward to going on this tour in May. I have been to Italy before. I don't speak Italian, but I have not had a problem with the Language.

I enjoyed this trip which I did last October. Love the hotel (what you might call small and friendly). Basic rooms but comfortable and everything you need in them. Everywhere is spotless. I enjoyed the food on the whole. It is certainly very plentiful. 😛 The staff are all very friendly and know bits and bobs of English. The night manager speaks quite good English, and so does the young guy on the bar. Rita and Salvatore the owners are wonderful people! My Italian is fairly basic considering the number of years I have been going there but I didn't have any problem making myself understood.

The holiday represents really good value for money and is a great taster of Tuscany. I enjoyed Pisa in particular and what I saw of Florence was a dream.

Watch out for the bar measures! 😛 And yes I hope you get Jonathan he is a really nice guy.

Hi,

I have just registered (about 10 mins ago), not exactly sure if I'm at the correct thread? Was just hoping to chat to some single-travellers about their experiences (I've never travelled alone in a group before). Hope to chat soon?

thanks! I am a travel lover. I often spent my vacation in travel and visited many countries. As travelling is a great source of entertainment as well as it is also source to enhance your knowledge about other countries, their cultures, traditions, lifestyles and their people. It is a nice way to enjoy your leisure time. I believe that travelling is all about fun and learning.

Hi, I am new to Just You but have made many trips as a single traveler with their sister company Travelsphere, all were excellent. I am thinking of giving Just You a whirl as I would like to go to Uzbekistan towards the end of the year and it is no longer available through Travelsphere. I would be interested in hearing for anyone who has already done this trip.

Hi Elaine,

You can find a couple of reviews of this tour in the reviews section of the forum but here are a few direct links for you to peruse for Australia.

I hope this helps.

Hi Elaine,

I did Singapore, Australia and New Zealand in October/November 2012.

Trip of a lifetime, Excellent tour with JY. I prefered New Zealand to Australia but would not missing seeing Australia. Lots to do in each location with great intinery in both places. Highlights for me in Australia were Ayres rock, dinning in the desert, baloon flight at Alice Springs, Kaurndra Railway and Barrier reef at Cairns, Melbourne weekend. Was NOt impressed by Sydney but saw the sights for the first time.

Highlights for me in New Zealand were the scenery, Milford Sound, Franz Joseph Glacier helicopter ride, Queenstown.

Try and do as may extras as you can afford. Although alot of the JY intinery includes many things at each location. The tour managers are very knowledgable and great help throughout the trip.

Have a great time when you go and enjoy
