Welcome, do you have the new JY brochure or have you looked at the holidays online, there are many holidays and different styles to choose from. Or you could try putting in the dates and price I the search facility and see what comes up. I have been on many JY tours they are great fun and you see so much, very safe way to travel. I hope you find something to fit your criteria.

Just got the new brochure and oh my goodness where to start. I'm only on page page 55 and I've turned down 12 corners of places I would like to go....How to choose????!!!!

It's not a case of where to go, but where to go first! I always suggest picking your dream destination as your first trip, others will say try a short holiday. Whatever you do your first experience is bound to be nerve racking - right up to the moment you meet your travel companions at the airport. At that point you will wonder what on earth you were so worried about and wish you had taken the leap a lot earlier. Have a browse of the forum at the reviews of places on your wish list and see what the best time is to do each one. Once you have booked something, put up a post and hopefully you will be able to chat with someone going on the same trip. Remember that we all had 'first time' nerves and everyone understands how you feel. This really is the best way to see the world and have fun whilst doing it.

Choosing the month you want to travel will narrow the choice a little.

And choosing something a little bit adventurous adds an extra dimension and will build your

confidence for future travel.

Go straight to the top of your wish list!

Welcome

I started by booking a USA tour and i have not looked back since, started using JY in 2006 and have now travelled the world with them.

So finish reading the brochure then really read what's on offer with the tours etc. Then list them all and PICK ONE or maybe two and go and have an adventure...great tours your well looked after and you get t meet like minded people..what's there not to like..have a great time

Hello there:

I am intending to book the New York trip  (September 2017).

Incredibly nervous as I haven't been abroad for many years and never on my own - but it looks fabulous!

Has anyone done this JY holiday, or will be travelling the same time as me?

Any useful tips?

HI Tilly

I am not sure which tour your looking at but I have been to NY twice with JY. THis has been within a main tour. So not just NY. I did do the add on last time to have 3 days to do my own thing in NY which was great. I loved exploring. So over the couple trips I have done many things. Helicopter flight, night meal in revolving  restaurant seeing the city lights, Empire State, Theatre Show, shopping!!!, horse drawn carriage ride in Central Park, 9/11 museum tour, ferry over to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Museums, and much more. I hope you have a great time any questions just ask...

If you put a message on the general boards with your tour date asking if people are going you might get more response. Also not every one that will be on that tour uses this facility.

Have fun

Hi All,

I'm very new to this, I have travelled alone but not in a while. For my 40th next year I am looking to book the Rockies Spectacular Tour. I enjoy company but equally like time on my own, love sightseeing and exploring. I'm also a bit partial to a glass of wine or two, so I'm hoping that this trip includes its all.

Is anyone else thinking of booking this trip in 2018?

I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne, it would be lovely to know if there are any other fellow geordies that have used this company.

Thanks in advance, Mel

Hope to hear from you.

Hi All,

I have just returned from my first Just you holiday in France. It was fabulous! I was very nervous as I didn't know what to expect. We were so looked after. The tour guide (Lyn) was brilliant, she really made the holiday for us. I made lots of new friends. The hotel was exceptional. Luckily the weather was on our side and it was beautiful. This was my dream holiday to Monet's Garden and I was not disappointed!

Anyway if your thinking of taking the plunge, think no more, just book!

:)

Sounds a good option for a Newbie like me.  Will have a look at the brochure now! Thanks janice

What were the age range of the people on this trip? Regards Janice

Hi Janice, you probably won't get a reply to this post as it was four years ago!  The main age range on JY hols tends to be around 55 - 75, with a few folks in the 20s-early 50s age group on some tours and a few in their late 70s and 80s as well.  People always mix well together, so the age range isn't an issue.  I'm at the younger end of the range (46) and have been travelling with JY since I turned 40.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi

I am new to forum posting, travelling on my own and Just You.

I am looking at the Central American trip in October but very very nervous to take the plunge. My concerns are whether a 19 day trip for my maiden solo holiday is a bit ambitious, how arduous will the trip be, whether there are lots of walking each day as my knees are not as good as they were, and the age group for this type of trips.

I would be grateful for any thoughts and whether anyone has been/booked for this trip please.

Thank you.

Hi Kimberley,

The Central America tour is a new one for JY this year so you won't find anyone who's done it yet I'm afraid! However, I have done a couple of similar ones - Costa Rica and Nicaragua and Mexico/Guatemala/Belize.  All I can say is that the itinerary for the Central America tour looks utterly amazing and I would love to do it!  I hope it will be around for a few years so I get the chance.  Yes there will be a lot of travelling, a lot of time on the coach and when you are in the national parks or in the cities, there will be a certain amount of walking.  If you can walk a couple of miles and are ok on somewhat uneven ground and can deal with a few slopes, I'd say you would be fine.  I would imagine that the age range for this tour would be a bit younger than a lot of JY tours, although age is a state of mind for many people and there will probably be some spritely older folks on it too.  If the itinerary really appeals to you, I'd say - go for it!  It should be an amazing experience and hopefully the first of many JY tours.  My first tour was in 2010 to Andalucia - I chose it because it was an easy going one for me to dip my toe in the water as I didn't know what to expect.  Afterwards I was a bit annoyed with myself that I didn't go for something more adventurous!!  So no harm to start at the deep end - on the long haul tours to unusual destinations I find there is a terrific mix of hardy, adventurous people and you are virtually guaranteed a lot of fun!

Hope this helps,

Bob

Hi Bob

Many thanks for your response and for your encouragements. Yes, the itinerary really appeals to me and Central America has been one of the places on my 'would love to visit' list. I am also interested in Alaska, Uzbekistan and Iran.

After your encouragements, I noted that the item listed on the last day of the tour is - tour not advisable for people with mobility difficulties. This is a little subjective, so I may call JY tomorrow to clarify the issue.

If I do go to Central America with JY and the trip went well, I will book the listed three above next year. Fingers crossed!

Thank you again for your help and encouragements.

Hi, I am going on the Sicilian Sunshine holiday on 4th July and plan to book into a hotel near Heathrow on the 3rd July as it is an early start. Anybody else planning to do this? Philly
