Hi Sue
I applied for the Indian evisa online - and had it granted in 24 hours. I found it straightforward but time consuming.
If you go to the official web site https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html you can view a sample application form which lets you get the necessary information together before filling out the form.
You need things like the first hotel, parents names, date and place of birth, countries visited in last 10 year (max 20!), JY’s India agent details, previous Indian visa details if any.
The tricky bit for me was that you have to scan and reduce in size the details page of your passport and a current passport type photo - details of requirements are on the sample form.
Once the form is completed and the scanned documents attached you pay on line and receive an acknowledgment email. Another email within 72 hours advises if the evisa is “Granted” and you then print off the single sheet ETA (not the email) for production at the border along with your passport.
Hope that helps - different rules apply to different types of passport etc so do check that this is the correct visa for you. Also ensure you are on the correct official India evisa site - some third party sites will try to charge for applying on your behalf.
