Hello everyone,

I am planning to head to India in a couple of weeks, specifically the Kerala Tour - Taste of Southern India.

I am applying for my visa to India and have become stuck as to what I need to put in the "Reference Name in India" field as per the attachment.

Please could someone help me. This is my first trip alone and I am already very nervous about getting things right.

Thank you

Paz

Hi Pax

I last applied for an Indian visa four years ago and, from memory, I contacted Just You who provided me with details of their agent in India. I used this information to answer the reference question.

My trip was to Kerela and I really enjoyed this holiday. It was more relaxed than the Spirit of India tour I had done previously.

Hope you have a great holiday.

Hi Paz,

I've recently applied for my e visa to India and I called Just You to ask that particular question. They kindly sent me an email giving me the details of their contact in India.

I completed my e visa form on Saturday and got an email today with my visa details attached.

I hope you have a great time on your trip, I'm sure you will, and good luck with your visa.

Hi Paz, I have been looking at the evisa, have you managed to get your sorted? How much does it cost, I can't find that information anywhere.

I found this article which did help, could you share the address for the reference please?

Enjoy your trip!

I have just been granted a 30 day evisa for India. The most difficult part was complying with the requirements of the passport and photo uploads. As I applied for it as soon as I could (30 days being going) I see that the ETA was issued on 25th January and expires on 23rd February. I do not fly out to Delhi until February 21st arriving on the 22nd.

Therefore I have only one spare day in the time limit before it expires. I assumed that it would show a date after I had left India. My interpretation is that I must enter within those dates as it also states that the visa validity is "30 days from the date of first arrival in India". Is this correct although the date of departure is after the date of expiry?

Anyone going to Destinations - The Travel Show at Olympia? I am going on Friday.

Hello Paz

JY did my Indian Visa for me, fortunately it didn't cost because I booked Sept 2018 when JY's offer was free visas.

I have the 12 month Evisa which (hopefully) covers my trip in February, so this isn't any help to you or anyone else, sorry , but I want to say "hello" to Peter.

Hi Peter

I am going to Destinations on the Saturday. My son and daughter are coming with me which I hope isn't to stop me from booking any more JY hols. on impulse. Last week I booked the TS Norway-Huskies and Northern Lights for 9th Nov, going with a non JY pal, with single room supplements a lot cheaper than JY. But it's not Ethiopia!!!!

Are you only going to Destinations on the Friday this year? I know that like me you have been on a couple of days in the past. If I don't see you at Destinations look forward to seeing you and other travellers in Delhi.

Kind Regards

Di

Hi Peter - I am also going to Destinations - may be Thursday and/or Sunday. Have numerous complementary tickets now - to think I was worried when I hadn't received any before Christmas! So it will be Delhi when we catch up. Hope you have an interesting, probably quite busy, day at the show.

I have yet to complete the evisa form - I phoned JY just now and they gave me the local agents details over the phone - if anyone needs to phone be aware you need enough space to write quite a long address - my handwriting ended up going along and around one of the JY letters I had used for the tour details!

I'm probably going on Sunday as its not really doable during my lunch hour.

I too still have to apply for my evisa but will leave it until nearer the time, look forward to meeting everyone in Delhi

Hi Di

I may visit Destinations on Saturday as well as Friday as I have complementary tickets and on Friday I intend to listen to some of the presentations and not have time to visit the stands. If I do go on Saturday I shall be at the JY stand at 1100.

Hi Peter

Enjoy your day tomorrow.

If you see this post I will look for you at Destinations on Saturday at 11.00am by the JY stand in case you do make it.

It would be nice to have a chat about India.

Hi Peter

Plans changed so I may bump into you on Friday! I am hoping to see the Antarctic talk and visit the photo exhibition but mostly mooching about. May spot you amongst the crowds.

Had an interesting and enjoyable day at Destinations on Friday. Attended talks by Chris Bonington and Jung Chang and walked "miles" round the numerous stands tempting me with holidays from Polar cruises (memorable for the massive ice statue of a Polar Bear) to horse riding safaris in Botswana - must remember to get a lottery ticket today........

Was welcomed onto the JY stand and had a long chat with Marsha about my upcoming Tiger Trail - really looking forward to it now! Also delighted to spot you, Peter, at the stand! Great to meet you and I know you will have an interesting first week in India before we meet up in Delhi to head for the National Parks.

Hello

I’ve just booked a Tiger trail for Oct 2020 and am really looking forward to it. I’d love to hear your opinions and experiences plus any tips when you return from your trip.

Have a great time!

Did you get the visa yourself or pay JY to do it for you?

Thanks

Sue

Hi Sue

I applied for the Indian evisa online - and had it granted in 24 hours. I found it straightforward but time consuming.

If you go to the official web site https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html  you can view a sample application form which lets you get the necessary information together before filling out the form.

You need things like the first hotel, parents names, date and place of birth, countries visited in last 10 year (max 20!), JY’s India agent details, previous Indian visa details if any.

The tricky bit for me was that you have to scan and reduce in size the details page of your passport and a current passport type photo - details of requirements are on the sample form.

Once the form is completed and the scanned documents attached you pay on line and receive an acknowledgment email. Another email within 72 hours advises if the evisa is “Granted” and you then print off the single sheet ETA (not the email) for production at the border along with your passport.

Hope that helps - different rules apply to different types of passport etc so do check that this is the correct visa for you. Also ensure you are on the correct official India evisa site - some third party sites will try to charge for applying on your behalf.

Hello Kedi

Thank you for your clear explanation of the process...

I can see that my problem will be the printing of the visa as I don't have a printer! Is the visa sent as an email attachment?

It's always these trivial things that concern me!

I'm not in the least worried about being eaten by a tiger!

Might need to re evaluate myself !!??

Thank you for your help
