Hello Elaine,

It will be VERY cold, so plenty of layers! Warm hat, long johns, warm boots etc. Everywhere in Iceland is thermally heated and very warm, so layers easy to peel off as required. I took woolen gloves which was a mistake as the wind went straight through them. Ski type gloves probably better.

A fascinating place, excellent food and very friendly people. A unique experience.

You MUST take a swimming cossie for the Blue Lagoon.  I went with JY for New Year a few years ago and we were swimming in the BL on New Year’s Day in a snow storm. -  magic.  Have a wonderful time.
