Hi Elizabeth,

There is really not a lot of difference between Christmas/New Year holidays than the others, no Carol singing or Church services. If you compere the holidays you will see there are tours almost everyday, but there is a

special dinner on Christmas/New Years day and at the Costa Brava Hotel there was a disco and we had a great time dancing with the group of Germans who was also staying in the Hotel.

This year I have booked Christmas and New Year in Malta.

Dave.

Hi Elizabeth

I have only done one Christmas holiday to Marrakesh. We had excursions on most days. I have not been to Andalucia over Christmas but went there in September 2010 and would recommend it as it is a lovely part of Spain. I am sure you will have a wonderful time no matter which one you choose.

Regards

Jaya

Hello Elizabeth, I have never been on a singles holiday before, just booked two for later this year, inc Xmas in Malta.

About Andalucia and the Costa Brava. Used to have a place in Marbella, spent many Christmas's there and it can be wet and cold, the bird bath froze over one year. The Costa Brava has a day time temp of about 10c. Also consider the Spanish don't celebrate Xmas like we do. Their main day is 3 Kings on 5th January.

I am sure though, you would have a good time with like minded people.    Mike.

Hi Mike, which holiday have you picked for Xmas in Malta, as I have been there for the last two years at Xmas time too, but thinking of going to St Paul's Bay rather than Sliema this time around for a change. Sue

Hi Elizabeth.

Like you, I have never been on a singles holiday but am booked to go to Malta this September.  I actually live in Andalucia in the province of Granada and know the areas on the holiday quite well.  Andalucia really is a beautiful region with huge contrasts between the coast, the inland mountains and the city of Granada.  The Alhambra in particular is breathtaking.  For the Spanish, Christmas is a religious festival starting with mass on Christmas eve and then a family meal going on until the early hours of the morning resulting in a very quiet afternoon.  Children do not receive their presents from Santa Claus, their presents come on the eve of three kings (5th January).  So whilst the culture and celebrations are different at Christmas I would recommend a visit to this beautiful part of the globe.  Saying this, there are a lot of ex pats living in places like Mijas, Nerja and Gibraltar so you should get to see lights, trees and Christmas markets.  I hope this helps, please feel free to get in touch if you want more information on this area and hope you have a fabulous holiday.
