Hi I am booked ontje Spirit of India trip 12th Feb is anyone else going then. I've also booked the add on has anyone done that. Would love to have some feedback marjie

Hi Marjie, I was on the Spirit of India trip in February this year. For me, words can't describe what an absolutely amazing tour this is and accompanied by Barbara, our fantastic tour manager and wonderful travelling companions. I have travelled to many places throughout the world but this tour is my absolute favourite. It is so varied and with the most fabulous sights, sounds and experiences. Every day I kept saying " this is my highlight!" and then that was topped by what was in store for us the next day. Every day was a highlight!?  Favourite moments for me were Taj Mahal, seeing a tiger in Rathambore, sunrise on the Ganges in Varanasi and return to the Ganges by Rickshaw. The most exhilarating journey ever! You'll know what I mean when you've experienced it. Lol. But the icing on the cake was the visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. You'll be pleased you booked the add on but the train journey getting there was an "experience".  Have a fabulous time! Carol

Hi, Im going on Spirit of India trip on 2nd October. My question is what size suitcase would be advisable? I think my large one will be difficult to lug around getting on trains boats etc? Or maybe not? My hand luggage will be too small for 2 weeks in that heat as will need a few changes but a large one might be too big?? Thank you. Wendy

Hi Wendy, I went on this tour in February and took a very large suitcase. It was no problem at all. Provided it complies with airport regulations for weight and size, you will be fine. There are porters to help at the train station. Have a fabulous trip. It's absolutely amazing. Carol

Hi Carol - was thinking of you and Christine recently when I joined SW - slow but seems to be working! Lost over a stone so far although 6lbs of that was due to a trip to China and Tibet!!!!!

I agree that this was an exciting and memorable holiday and I am so glad we did the Amritsar add on - definitely the icing on the cake. Everywhere was so busy, the roads shared by cars, coaches, lorries, bikes, mopeds, trishaws, people, dogs, goats and of course the cows - who have absolute right of way

Dont worry about the suitcases - there were porters everywhere, organised by the TM and guide. I have a photo of my large, bright purple, suitcase being carried along a station platform on the head of a rather slight man - no problem! Some carried more than one........

I so enjoyed my experience of northern India I have booked to go to Southern India and Kerala next February. I understand this is a more relaxed trip and I am really looking forward to it. But I wouldn't have missed my busy, bustling northern experience.

Hi Diane,  lovely to hear from you. Hope you enjoyed Tibet. Well done on the weight loss!  Kerala looks amazing.  I am having a few hols in Europe before venturing out afar again. I am going on the   Historical Malta tour in about 3 weeks time and have booked a couple of Italian tours for next year.

Hi Carol

I'm still trying to fit in as many long haul trips as possible before the money runs out and/or my health gives out! So Canada, Thailand, Vienna/Hungary and Kerala - not all JY though.

I went to Malta with a different itinerary a few years ago now - we had an add-on in Gozo. The hotel is good - do head for the roof and the infinity pool - we spent some time just bobbing about looking over the edge! It's very near the sea front - at that time the pavement were a bit rough - care after dark! Lots of good restaurants and bars and heading left as you face the sea there is a square with outside seating. To the right as you face the sea a short walk along the coast takes you to the aquarium. At that time there was a supermarket opposite the hotel on the corner - handy for water and chocolate/snacks (oops - not for me!).

Several of us wished that more of the war time history had been included - you seem to have that! If you, or anyone else, has a tendency to a bad back just check the seating for the Malta experience with your TM - some is a bit interactive

There was a day trip to Gozo on our trip - those that went enjoyed it. The boat trip is fun. As we were staying on the island we did the tour from our hotel.

Have a lovely time - and please do post on your return as I may return to Malta in the future.

India remains a favourite holiday and I have some lovely memories of sights and company!

I am going on the Spirit of India trip in February and I am looking forward to it so much! This will be my second trip with Just You and I still feel apprehensive about this one. But I know it will be fine as we are very well looked after by Just You from Start to finish. Can anyone tell me how much currency that we will need for the trip and are cards widely accepted?

Hi

I did this trip five years ago and it remains my favourite JY holiday. I took £500 in cash and changed it to rupees in hotels as and when I needed to. Credit and Debit cards were accepted in larger shops and there were some ATMs available. Machines works differently from here but there are instructions in English.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your holiday

Lesley

Hi anyone booked for this trip on 5 Feb? I’m looking forward to it with quiet apprehension. There seems tom e so much to take into consideration. Have realised this week you have to be quite careful about what you wear?Anyone know what the temperature is likely to be in the day and night?

Hi Lesley

You do not have to be too careful about what you wear in India though it is better not to 'expose' too much 'skin' to avoid unwanted attention. You can wear skirts, trousers, crop trousers, sleeveless tops etc. One lady during the Kerala trip wore very short shorts and no one batted an eyelid! February temperatures will be good. I think it will be Spring time there. Do take a shawl or pashmina in case the evenings get cooler or for air conditioned placed. Have a lovely time.

Regards

Jaya
