Dear friends

Has anyone been on the Spirit of India trip?  I am considering this holiday.

Some of the questions I have are, what was the length of the journeys between places visited? Was the extension worthwhile? Is there  the same company rep with the group at all times? Were there a lot of shopping stops ( visits to workshops etc), and what were the arrangements for tipping?  This last query might seem a bit odd, but I have recently visited Egypt, where tips are constantly needed, but there is little possibility of getting hold of small currency.

Any general observations about the holiday would be gratefully received.

Thank you very much.

Hi

I did this trip in 2012. Itinerary was very similar but detention was not available at that time. I would have done it if it had been.

I really enjoyed the journeys between places and you travel on buses, trains and planes! India does not have the road system we enjoy and, although distances are not great, journeys can be lengthy but you do see the countryside.

There are a number of shopping opportunities-jewellery, marble and textile workshops. I spent too much!!!

This remains my favourite JY holiday. India is a fascinating country and I will never forget seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise.

Have also done the Kerala trip and can also recommend this trip.

Hope this helps.
