I am thinking of going to New Zealand in March, as anybody else been there at that time of year as I was wondering what the weather was like in March?

I went to NZ in March in 2010 - my very first JY holiday. The weather was superb. We had about one day of rain and drizzle (near Franz Josef) and the rest was glorious sunshine. By the time we reached Queenstown, it was cold in the morning but soon warmed up. It's a wonderful experience if you can do all the optional excursions too.

I am likely to be returning later in the year on the Travelsphere Oz/NZ trip to celebrate 2016 being a very special year for me!

I went in February 2012. It only rained once, in the afternoon in Auckland. Having said that, the North Island was having a drought. It was pleasantly warm, but not really shorts weather, jeans and t-shirts with a lightweight jacket for cool mornings, were fine. The South Island was noticeably cooler. I would recommend a hat, scarf and gloves if you intend to go onto the observation platform on the Alpine express. Also, I believe it can be cold and windy at any time on Milford Sound. As always, the best advice is to wear layers. It's an amazing trip, some long days on the road, but worth every minute. One last thing do as many of the flights as you can. Have a fabulous time

When I went a few years ago it was in January, weather was OK and we had a beautiful days weather in Milford Sound, I took clothes to layer off or on, with a jacket that you can zip a fleece into if needed. You do need sturdy footwear on the Franz Joseph there was plenty of snow on the mountain the day I went up. Great tour you will have fun
