I am going on the Riviera Splendour trip on 9th of September. At the moment I have not booked for either of the optional excursions. They both look good (Portofino and Monaco) but as I want some additional free time I may well leave one out. Can anyone advise me of which one ? Probably a difficult choice to make but I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has been recently?

Hi Roger.

I visited these places several years ago, but not with Just You.

Portofino is beautiful and I think well worth a visit. Monaco I personally found to be lacking in charm and would not visit again.

If I had a choice I would pick Portofino.

Hope this helps

Elsie

Hi Elsie,

Thanks for your reply and views. As Monaco is scheduled later in the week this may be the one to opt out of (if I do) . Any other comments would be appreciated from anyone who have been with Just You.

Regards

Roger

I did this trip with JY 2 years ago. The visit to Portofino is by boat from St Margherita which is a nice town. Portofino is very pretty, small and very expensive. Monaco and Monte Carlo has more to see with the Palace, Cathedral, Casino etc. Lots of designer shops. When we went we parked at the end of the tunnel used by the Grand Prix and walked through if you are into that. Its a good holiday.

Hi Sue.

Thanks for your thoughts. What I may do is go on the Portofino excursion (as this comes first) and make up my mind re Monaco afterwards - depending on other factors such as weather, the hotel, and my fellow guests!

Kind regards,

Roger

Hello,

I haven't been on this holiday, but I would suggest you wait until you arrive and then discuss with your tour manager who will be able to advise you.

Hi

I too have not been on this holiday, but I personally try to go on all excursions as my thinking is you may not get a chance to go back again. Hence I try to see as much as I can. Enjoy your holiday whether or not you do both optional excursions.

Thanks, Jaya. I don't worry too much about not returning but I am looking forward to the trip and intend to enjoy myself.
