Hi MaryDee, welcome from me too.

I did the Jordan tour last month, and it was fabulous. Don't worry at all about the problems in Syria, we saw no sign of any trouble at all in Jordan. In fact, they were all so pleased that we had come, their tourist industry has pretty well collapsed because of the troubles. We were just about the only tour party in the country, which was lovely for us, but I felt so sorry for the people. They said they would normally have 3000 visitors a day at Jerash, we had the place to ourselves. There were more people at Petra, of course, but even there it wasn't crowded..

There really weren't any highlights, every place we visited had the wow factor - and of course we got photos without crowds of people.

I agree, 200 dinar is about right, and take clothes for extreme heat, it was 42 degrees when we were there. Head coverings vital, our Bedouin local guide wrapped our scarves into the proper head coverings for us, they are amazingly comfortable.

You'll have a wonderful time, so try not to be nervous.

Still hoping to hear from other travellers setting of for Jordan on 16th November. It would be good to meet up, as a newbie, at Heathrow. Or does that happen automatically?
