Hi All

I am new to JY but always wanted to go on safari. I have travelled alone before but not on organised trip and this sounds a great way to meet like minded people and share a fantastic new experience.

Can anyone recommend the best time to go - I am thinking about booking for Jan or Feb. any tips advice would be welcome.

Hello Carrie

Welcome to you can I suggest your change your screen name to something other than your e ail address for safty reasons.

NOW regarding Kenya Safari if that's the one you like the look of GO FOR IT, it's fantastic to see the animals I went in October the weather was just fantastic and I don't remember any rain. I did the add on which was really good to just chill out and relax so if there is anything I can help with just ask.

This is a great holiday to pick you would have a great time.

Hi Carrie,

Welcome to JY, I am sure you will be glad you have chosen this site. I also have done the Kenya Safari with the Mombassa add on. I have to admit it was fantastic and very well organised. An early start each morning for the safari but well worth it and then you can relax on the beach on the add on. I also went in September and the weather was perfect. I am off to Vietnam/ Cambodia in 2 weeks time so we will see if this trip tops it. This is my 4th JY trip, Thailand and China being the other 2. You will get to meet so many like minded people of all ages.

Happy Safaring!!!!

HI

I went on the MAGIC OF KENYA in June and it was an amazing holiday I cant stop talking about it, this was my first JY holiday and now booked for China next year it really did boost my confedence in JY :D

Jan and feb is the hotest time of the year for kenya and I thought June was warm to hot but June being their spring time was very good summer weather to us ( I wouldnt of wanted it any warmer or its too hot)

sept - oct is in between but get booked up very quickly.

the animals were amazing came so close it was a busy holiday up early and late nights but very worth the money

everyone was so nice and helpfull and everyone got alone as if we had known each other for years.

I hope this helps and you have a fab holiday what ever you pick x

Hi if you want the trip of a lifetime it has to be the South Africa tour - it's expensive but so worth it! We did four safaris - Hlulewe (pronounced Shushlouie) where we saw dozens of rare white and black rhinos, elephants and giraffes, Thanda Nani and two Kruger drives (all the big five, rare sighting of a leopard, wild dogs, hyenas and so much more). The best was probably on the add-on to Zambia, where not only did we see the amazing Victoria Falls (including a helicopter ride or microlite) but we did a day trip into Botswana to the famous Chobe National Park - we had a river cruise along the Chobe in the morning, where we saw dozens of bathing hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards, eagles and more, with herds of elephants and then a jeep safari in the afternoon with close up views of monkeys, baboons and more elephants! Truly wonderful and magical experiences! There was so much more to see and do on this amazing tour - the scenery around Cape Town is stunning, as is Blyde River Canyon. We visited an ostrich farm at Oudtshoorn, saw the amazing Cango Caves, went on a winery tour including the world famous Nederburg vineyard and so much more. Please do this tour if you can, you won't regret it - the best holiday I've ever been on!

Best wishes,

Bob
