Hi,

I was in a similar situation this time last year and dreading a a holiday on my own, or sitting at home on my own because I had no one to go with. By chance I saw an ad for JY and thought "why not?".

Very nervous at first, right up until I got to Heathrow and met the rest of the group. From there on in it was the best holiday ever! (Kenya BTW). I didn't spend time with everybody there but it was easy to find people to get on with and whose company I enjoyed, as did everybody else I think.

Did I mention Best Holiday Ever?

I know this sounds a little feeble and slightly pathetic, but I am really nervous about booking a singles holiday. I am a 44 year old man, and after quite a tricky divorce, feel the only way forward is to book something and meet new people.

Anyone else found themselves facing the same dilemma?

Go for it! I think you just have to jump in and try things, remember for everyone going there will have been a first time. I'm sure you will have a great trip.

I have just booked America's National Parks and Canyons (Sept 11th), my first trip too and will be quite nervous as the time gets near. Any one else going, I'd love to hear?

Hi Spaggs, Anna here. I am in a similar situation to you. My husband left me in January 2010 for another woman. Fast forward over 2 years and I am now divorced (happily I might add). I am 53 and although I am very confident naturally I did feel myself "withdrawing" into myself a little - too happy with a good book and quite at ease with my own company, etc. BUT we all know that that isn't good in the long term. SO, as I have always loved travelling a colleague's mom recommended JY to me. I have booked my first holiday to Kusadasi in September this year. I'm sure it will be great, so all I can say is take the bull by the horns and go ahead and book something. I know you won't regret it. Let us know what you decide. Anna

Hi, I've just booked my first JY holiday, like you I've had a tricky couple of years. I'm 52 by the way, I just chose somewhere I'd always wanted to go and that was Austria, so I've booked for October. Yes I'm anxious, but all the comments I've read have been very positive, so now I'm looking forward to my first solo holiday, and I'm sure I'll meet lot's of interesting people of different ages and from different walks of life.....Life's to short and the worlds a big place. Hope you have fun where ever you go. Lynne

I have not yet booked my solo holiday yet so you are far braver than me. I am recently separated female aged 49 and looking for a special holiday jun/july 2012 to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Well done you for bokking and I hope you enjoy your holiday:D[/color]

Well me too. Why am I contemplating this on finding myself alone at 58? Also scared to take the plunge. I may just jump jump if you do!

Jump, there's nothing to be scared of. I'm doing my first solo holiday aged 52 lol in October to Austria and I can't wait. I'm sure I'll meet lot's of interesting people of different ages and from different walks of lifr. So here goes and fingers crossed. Lynne.

I'm recently divorced too, had a rough couple of years but one day last week, I just thought 'what the hell' and booked the Christmas golden west tour, now I have something to look forward too and I feel so much better! I'm thinking of booking a china tour too but waiting to see about work first!

[Hi spaggs

I felt just as you do this time last year but took the plunge and booked with JY for Lake Como. I'm so glad I did as although I've travelled quite a lot, this was undoubtedly one of the best holidays I've ever had! There are no stresses about trying to please family /friends with "what to do, where to go". It's all arranged and the holiday is about pleasing YOU .... if you want to do it, you do and if you don't , you don't. Simples!;)
