Hello everyone,

my name is Will and I am the 'Product Manager' for Just You's North America holidays. Basically I have to decide which tours we operate and then research tours to make sure that you all have a great time once you book and want to keep coming back to us.

I have read this forum for a little while without actually posting myself, I don't want to step on Olly's toes after all! You probably noticed that I set up the Route 66 holiday after seeing all of your great posts on here about it.

So why am I posting? Well, simply because I love feedback from our guests. I wanted to know where all of you would be interested in travelling to in North America next?

Does the Rocky Mountaineer interest you?

Have you always fancied Graceland and New Orleans?

How about lesser known places like Oregon and Northern California?

You tell me what your dream North America holiday is!

Looking forward to hearing from you all

Will

Hi Will,

I've done the West Coast holiday Frisco to Vegas twice, loved it both times.

Am now planning to do the PArks and Casynons tour which goes from Phoenicx to Vegas. My only gripe with this tour is that its only 10 days, and when your departure and arrival are counted as days you only really get 8 days in the US. Why can;t this tour have an extra night in Vegas? and possible one in the Grand Caynon or nearby?

For other locations, I would love to see Texas, New Mexico and the South, and Northern California, Reno, etc.

Thanks for asking

Cheers P.A.

Hi Will

I'm new to JY and my first trip will be route 66 next year.

1 tour that I would be interested in is Florida. Not the theme parks but places like Miami, the Keys, Fort Lauderdale and other places around there. Maybe the space centre as well and Daytona Beach.

There are many places in America the myself and others would love to visit.

Thanks for adding route 66

Hi Will,

As the person who started the Route 66 petition on here I'd like to thank you for including it.

I'm big fan of North America and have visited many Cities over there. Actually been twice with JY to Americas Golden West in 2010 and did Parks & Canyons earlier this year.

Now the holiday I'd most like to see is one that follows Route 61 (which bascally follows the Mississippi river).

The main cities on the route would be Chicago (my fav american city), St Louis, Memphis & New Orleans.

Other interesting places on route could include Vicksburg, Clarksdale (birthplace of the Blues), Baton Rouge, etc. sure there is more.

As you may have guessed I'm a fan of Blues Music.

But to be honest there is so many holidays I could think of that will suit many travellers, eg: American Civil War Cities, Northwest (been to Seattle which is good and Portland as a good reputation). Carolinas would be nice, etc.

I saw suggested somewhere two city breaks (say 5 nights each) with flights between for those that like cities and not long coach journeys, there is loads of options that cold be included.

Mick

Of course if you are struggling for tour managers I'm available, lol.

Two center holdays in the U.S would work well. Perhaps San Francisco which could take in Yosemite etc and then Las Vegas and the Canyon.

Or New York and Florida either Keys or Gulf Coast. With the distance being so big in the U.S somtime you can spend rather too long on the tour bus.

Hello WILL

A warm welcome from the cummity that is JY travellers, thanks for posting on here, I am sure you will get great feed back I have done 3 USA tours.LOVED them all...

I did infact do the Nasville and Graceland tour couple years ago I think it was only in for 1 year. I thought the music history side and Graceland and Grand Ole Opry etc was just fantastic and I loved the history side about Martin Luther King and the Cival Rights movement great trip....

I do know from other that did the USA tour with the cruise?? you don't have this now I don't think they really enjoyed that tour.

There is no where I feel the need to go in the USA at the moment but I am sure there will be another USA tour at some stage I shall tag along with.

Good Luck

Cindy

Hi Will,

I did America's Golden West in March and absolutely loved it! I would love to do northern California (Yosemite in particular) and Oregan. Would be more interested in the New Orleans tour if the Louisiana swamps was re-introduced. Route 66 doesn't interest me that much. Top of my list to do over the next couple of years is a tie between the National Parks/Little Big Horn trip and the new eastern Canada/New England in the Fall trip. I'd also be interested in doing an Alaskan cruise/Hawaii like Travelsphere offer. Or how about a cross Canada trip? I see some Costa Rica holidays have been cancelled, what a pity more people didn't book it. I hope it won't be dropped completely from JY as I'd like to do it, but it would be a couple of years down the road - too many other trips I want to do first!

All the best and many thanks for starting this tread.

Hi there Will. I have travelled a bit in the U.S.A but only to visit friends. I was in Michigan again in October, not an obvious choice for a holiday, but it's an amazing state. Detroit as a starter would give people a chance to see the Motown Museum, perhaps, depending on the time of year go to a baseball, ice hockey or American football game. Detroit has great teams! The Upper Peninsular of Michigan is amazing, and I loved the opportunity to visit the Great Lakes, and view the awesome scenery up there. The West Coast of Lake Michigan has lots of beautiful small towns on the lake, miles and miles of wonderful beaches and sand dunes.

I love Pennsylvania too. Lots to see and do there, Amish Country, Gettysburg, and again wonderful scenery.

Not obvious choices I know but worth considering.

Hi Will

I'm new to JY and have not long booked my first holiday with you. Only a european one to start off with, but if things go ok i have a few long haul i intend to do.

I really like the look of the National parks, Canyons & Little Big Horn trip and was also very interested in doing the Canadian Rockies one until i saw you have dropped the Alaska cruise add on! Was there any particular reason why it was removed and do you think there is any possibility of it being put back on? Also a Mexico tour would be good if your job covers down to there?

Apart from that the choices you offer are pretty good, just please don't drop the Little Big Horn trip anytime soon as my holidays for next year are pretty much sorted. 2013 is the earliest i will be able to do it!!

Cheers

I agree with Paul, regarding the Little Big Horn trip - it will be 2013 or 2014 before I get the chance to do it, so please don't drop it! And please don't drop any of the other long haul trips as I want to work my way through them over the next few years!

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Paul.

Welcome to Just You - I am sure you are going to have some great holidays with us... don't take my word for it though - I'm sure many folk here can give you real life reviews.

with regards to the Alaska cruises - it is very hard to get an allocation of single cabins unfortunately. and when we can get them the price is very high. I want to offer great holidays but I want you all to have value for money on our tours.

Don't worry about the national parks tour - That is definitely in the plan for 2013 at the minute.

Mexico isn't part of my remit but I know that we did it a little while ago and it wasn't very popular unfortunately.

Thanks for all your thoughts everyone - I am really enjoying reading your posts and getting inspired. Keep it coming!

Hi Will, great of you to ask about N.A. tours, I would be interested in an Oregon/Northern California tour, and maybe the Rocky Mountaineer too (only 11 months to wait for my New England jolliday!).

Thanks again for all of your interesting replies.

Maggie - I would love to be able to offer you a NYC break, but the price would have to be so high - in the region of £1800 for a 4 night break. When it comes to the simpler holidays like a city break it is very hard for us to compete with the sort of prices you will see on the internet.

KMcP - I am not long back from holiday in New England & Canada myself. it was a great place - I think you will love it.

so many of you have so many great suggestions - it's so difficult with there being such a lot of ground to cover! It looks like there is a bit of an appetite for the Southern states though?

Do keep replying though - and feel free to ask any questions about North America as well!

Denver and the Rocky mountains, also Charleston looks amazing, together with the Carolinas. Utah also appeals. just hope the USA range is increased, along with Canada.

Hi Will,

Thanks for posting on Community. It's nice to be asked for ideas of what holidays we would like to see. I have the National Parks, Canyons and Little Bighorn booked for May next year and I am really looking forward to it. I am also planning to do the West Coast tour, hopefully the following year.

Reading through the various replies to your post, there are a few suggestions that interest me. The Florida Keys, Miami, etc would be great. I would also love to see Graceland and Nashville. I bet Oregon would be a great place to visit too. Went to Hawaii six years ago and would love to go back there - the people are so friendly.

It would be nice to see a few more American tours in the brochure.

Hi, I've only done one Just You holiday so far (in Italy). Am very interested in the parks and Little Big Horn trip. But would really like some flexibility for the US trips, ie being able to do my own "add-ons" - eg a few more days in Las Vegas. I dont know if it is possible to book just the tour but make your own arrangements re flights so you can add on days at beginning and/or end of a trip?

Top of my wish list for the US is Alaska and Hawaii. Am looking at the latter at the moment to do solo late this year - a 7-day cruise round the various Islands and days in Honolulu added on. But there are lots of destinations in the US I would be interested in. May look at the Route 66 trip in next couple of years. The suggestions above re 2 centres might be good, I understand your point that NY is hard for you to compete with. But there are plenty of other interesting smaller locations - San Diego, Austin (TX), Phoenix etc. Also liked the suggestion above re Miami, the Keys, Fort Lauderdale, Daytona Beach.

I also go skiing to the States and would happily book a holiday with a few days skiing in New Hampshire+a few days travel in New England or Tahoe and California/West Coast etc.

I did the Florida and Bahama Cruise and really enjoyed it. It was full 42 people. I had hoped to do the California and Mexico cruise the following year but it was dropped. Cost probably as cruises really sting singles!
