Hello there travellers,

Well where do I start?? Looking at China, Canada,USA..I just don't know where to start, nervous 😕 about travelling alone but also so very excited. Any advise on travelling with Just you, ages, is everything done as a group or do have time to do your own thing too?

Can't wait to chat with anyone that replies 🙂

Did comment on your other post but to answer your question here, its really up to you whether you stick with the main group or do thingsyou want, I do a mix of both, if there is something want to see or do I do it.

As example this year I did Parks & canyons which finished in Vegas, I didn't do the tour of main hotels on the strip because I'd done them the previous year on Americas golden west, so I did my own tour of the other themed hotels.

In reality people tend to split into small groups with others they get on with best.

Any specific questions please ask.

Hello Patricia123

Welcome to the community. We were all nervous to start with and yes, we had to take that first timid step into the great unknown. However, once you have taken that first nervous step you wonder why you ever worried in the first place.

Ages can range from 30ish up into the eighties. Do not worry about this as at the end of the day it is only a number. Women usually outnumber the men. Whatever the makeup of the group they really gel well together, after all, everyone wants the same thing and that is a good holiday.

Remember that it is your holiday, and if you do not want to do something, just tell your Tour Manager and go your own way. I have 2 holidays booked in 2012, one to Andalucia and the other is to China with the Yangtze add on. I am 72 and you can rest assured that I would not be going with a company that I didn't trust.

Finally, the choice is yours, find a holiday that you like the look of and go and book it. You certainly will not regret it.

Best wishes

Peter

Hi Patricia,

I have replied to your other post, but then noticed this one too with a few more questions. On the trip I went on there was an excursion planned everyday, which the majority of people went on. However, on a couple of the days one or two people decided to have a day to themselves. It's really up to you, if you want time to yourself, then nobody minds. Although I did every excursion, and stayed within a small group for the majority of the time, I always had an hour or two to myself when we returned to the hotel, just chilling out and reading. People like different things and everyone respects that, and of course everyone is in the same boat - they are there to have a good holiday and enjoy themselves. Have a look at the brochure, decide where you would like to go and book a holiday - you won't regret it. Elaine

Hi Patricia

I know how you feel, I went on my first solo holiday in October. Had done a couple of weekends away on my own but finally took the plunge and went with Just You to Punta Umbria. Thoroughly enjoyed it and although this was a big party (40) they were a friendly bunch and I met a few kindred spirits:thumbup: It was a good mix of excursions, time around the hotel, group activity and the opportunity fotr time alone if you wanted it. Just what I needed and I'm now looking at other, longer, trips. I've looked at USA and China but think I might plunge for Cuba before it changes out of all recognition! Enjoy your holiday.

Hi Patricia,

Firstly, you won't be travelling alone, as soon as you get to the airport you'll see other travellers with the 'Just You' luggage labels and by the time you board the plane you'll all know eachother. If you travel from Heathrow or Gatwick the rep will probably be there and they'll travel with you.

Where to go? well, there's plenty of choice! I've been to America three times with Just You and once with Travelsphere and they were all fantastic. Also done several to Europe, and next September I'm going to China.

Age doesn't matter. On one of the American trips the youngest was 23, the oldest 85! So stop dithering and book it - you won't regret it!!

Regards, Pat
