Yes definitely one for the photo album! (Except I'd be the only one on the photo) :s

Oh yes I see, a quiet walk in the evenings would be nice. Aren't we near the sea, it says sea views from the hotel.......Is that stood on the roof with a pair of biniculars??

As far as I can tell, (and I might well be wrong), we're about 5 miles from the sea. But we're up high in the mountains which is why the views are still good.

If you want to see for yourself, go to GoogleMaps (http://maps.google.com/) and search for "Hotel TRH Mijas, Spain". There's plenty of photos available and you can "walk" past our hotel :)

Thank you. I've had a look and yes it is almost 5 miles to the nearest beach so quite a hike!

Oh well I'm sure its safe to walk about near the hotel in the evenings (vampires permitting).

Dawn

PS How do you get eg (JohnJW Wrote) at the begging of a reply when you want to reply to someone specific?

Hi Ladies

i did this trip in September last year, it was also my first JY trip and I was just as nervous. I met other people at the airport in London who introduced themselves, and the rest of the group flying from London in Malaga when we'd landed. Everybody is very friendly and helpful and those who have travelled with JY before always make you welcome and explain things if necessary. You will all have agreat time I'm sure.

i'm of to Kenya on 28th September and realyy looking forward to it!

Best of luck to you, and ENJOY:thumbup::thumbup:

Hi Dawn - no not long. I'm so excited! Yes I must get a lightweight suitcable and maybe a travel guide book. The weather has been awful in my part of the country; I hope it is better where you are!

Its not been too bad really, cooler and a bit windy today though.

I hope the food at the hotel has improved and the staff are more friendly and helpful.

What???

Around the time I booked, I looked on TripAdvisor and there were, ahem, shall we say "mixed views" about the hotel (service and food). Reading more carefully though, it looked as if all the "poor" reviews were from 2010 and almost all of the 2011 ones were fine. But I haven't checked since.

Despite that, like you and Jeannie, I am really, really looking forward to mid-November.

I've borrowed a travel guide from the library - Insight Guides/Southern Spain/Dorothy Stannard. It's OK, but I'm going to look for something better.

Hi John

I'm just going on what i've read in the Testimonials on here. People who did this trip in June this year remarked on the poor food and staff. So I'm hoping things have improved.

I'm not bothering with a guide book, we are only there a week and have 3 included trips.

I'm just looking forward to chilling out for a bit. I'll be very nervous nearer the time, having to deal with the airport and flying on my own!

Hello Dawn

I think there are a lot of people who don't use this forum so I will be surprised if you end up travelling along from the airport.

True. I checked back and there's only been five of us on this thread. And I'm pretty sure there'll be more than the five of us on the holiday :exclamation: Of course we'll have an advantage 'cos we already know each other

I've had another look on TripAdvisor, etc. and, whilst reports for 2011 have been a bit patchy, overall they're pretty good. So I'm not too worried about the hotel.

I sympathise with your worries about travelling alone, Dawn. I used to fly a lot with my job so it's no big deal for me. I'd gladly help you, but i'm flying from Newcastle. It's a shame more of our fellow travellers are not using this forum.

Hi Jeannie

No you are probably right, East Midlands is pretty central for a lot of places, so I will be surprised if no one doing this trip is travelling from there.

But I meant more that I will be travelling without an actual companion... Someone who could help me with my luggage as I hurt my back a couple of months ago and am worrying about that.

Hi

I went to Andalucia in September 2010. I can guarantee that you all will have a lovely time. It is a beautiful part of Spain. I definitely would love to go back one day as I missed the trip to Rhonda due to not feeling very well. We had perfect weather throughout the trip. If you have the option of visiting Gibraltar and/or Alhambra Palace take this offer as both are great places to visit. I personally try and see as much as I can when I am on a holiday as you never know if you will ever get a chance to go back. Enjoy and have a great holiday.

Hi John

Apparently there are 40 on this trip.

I read a testimonial from a lady who did this one in Sept and she said things have improved in the hotel...so thats a load off! :)

Hi Dawn and everyone going to Andalucia in November. Iwent in September same tour as Maddy and agree with everything she wrote. The food is good breakfast and dinner are buffet style with lots of choice. I think you should be aware that the in room safe is a ten euro's returnable deposit with a daily charge of three euro's a day there is no fridge in the room but one can be hired four euro's a day. There is no kettle no access to an iron or ironing board though there is a laundry service. Mijas is a beautiful quiet very clean village. The tours are good and you will meet some lovely people in your group and make friends. Wishing you all a lovely holiday and enjoy Lillie..
