Hi

I am new to this and would love to go on one of your holidays but would like to know if anyone is going from Northern Ireland. I am in my late 50s and love a bit of fun, meeting people and travelling.

Any help appreciated,

Look forward to hearing from someone.

Hi Christine,

I live in Co. Wexford but fly out of Belfast in order to hook up with the main departures. You might have a wait at Heathrow or wherever to join the main tour party but a little bit of inconvenience is worth it as JY hols are fantastic, go for it!

Hi,

I'm from NI (Newtownards), also in my late 50s and have been on 2 JY holidays to Austria. On both, I've been the only one from NI but have met some great people and had a great time. Most people are there are on their own and up for new company and a bit of craic but with single rooms and a mix of included and optional excursions, you can still have time on your own if you want. There's no hols direct from Belfast but JY will usually organise your connecting flight if you want.

I'm off to Croatia on 13 September with JY. It seems to be booked up but there's a wide choice so just pick one you fancy and go for it. I may do a longer haul one next year, perhaps Canada, South Africa or Thailand, but haven't made up my mind yet.

There's loads of info on posts on the forum but feel free to ask me anything you want,

Rosemary

Hi: I'm from Co Armagh and have been on 2 long haul JY trips, Cuba & S Africa, which were v. good, esp. Cuba. Going on Can Rockies/Alaska cruise in Sept. Ages are usually 50s-70s and there are usually twice as many women as men, not that it matters! People have mixed well on the trips I've gone on. I find that JY is the best singles tour operator. Hi Christine

I live in Northern Ireland and I am about to go on my 4th JY holiday. Flying from Belfast is no problem and when you get to Gatwick or Heathrow you will meet up with your fellow travellers. The luggage labels are easily spotted. I have yet to meet anyone from here on a holiday but that isn't a problem as everyone is on their own and you soon make friends. The only downside is that some holidays require you to fly to England on the previous day. I have had to do this at Gatwick and stayed in the Holiday Inn.

Hi folks,

have any of you who have flown from Belfast had problems with checking in at Belfast City? I flew from there in March to Heathrow to link up with the America's Golden West tour and was told my ref number was invalid and they had to delete my booking and rebook at the check in desk, a bit worrying when you have a flight to catch! Same problem on the way back, had to check in afresh at Heathrow. The booking ref was fine for the tour, it was just the Belfast flights that didn't show up when I tried to check in.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi,

I live in Co. Galway and booked few weeks ago "Christmas in Edinburgh". I have been eyeing up some holidays for next year and I´m just waiting for the new brochure to come out first. I would be then using the Belfast airport.

It´s nice to see that there are at least few of us here in this side of the bond.

Hi Christine

Like Rosemary S I am also from Newtownards and at the end of October I will be going on my 4th JY holiday. On two of my previous trips there were others from NI.

Hi Reta,

I see you're going on the SA/Vic Falls trip. I would be interested to know what you think as it's on my to do list. I have been to several parts of Africa and love the country but have yet to see most of the places on the JY hol. I'm sure you'll have a great time,

Hi Rosemary,

I know what you mean about blue skies and sunshine. I am really looking forward to some decent weather. Meeting for coffee sounds like a good idea. I go to SA 26th Oct. until 15th Nov. Just let me know when and where.

Hello,

I did my first trip this August to the Classic Italian cities which was fantastic although tiring as you are on the go all the time. I flew from George Best airport to Heathrow & met the others there-I was the only one from NI. I had to fly the day before & stay at Heathrow. The hotel was dearer than others about £100 bed only but was right beside departures which was really handy as we flew out really early. I did'nt have the travel problems others had as it literally took 2mins to get to check in.

I had more problems on the way back as my onward flight was very close to the Rome flights arrival & I missed my connection. The airline werent much use but Just you were great & made sure I got booked onto another flight.

Thanks everyone for replies. The thought of having to go to London and maybe stay there by myself is enough to put me off. I may never be able to do it as I hate travelling on my own.

I have booked Candad and New England in the Fall next September 2012 if you would be interested in that trip, I live in County Antrim.

Hi pinkmarch,

please don't let that put you off! I'm just back from a hol with JY and travelled from George Best to Heathrow and had no problems whatsoever this time, so last time it must have just been a computer glitch! It was really easy to find my way around Heathrow and on long haul trips you get free access to the executive lounge so you can relax and have a drink with your fellow JY travellers before your flight. I haven't had to stay overnight in Heathrow so far, as flights go early from George Best, but even if you did I'm sure JY could help you with booking a hotel beside the airport and arrange transfers to the terminal, to make it hassle free for so. So go on, give it a go, I'm sure you won't regret it!!

All the best,

Bob

Hi Folks,

I too live in Northern Ireland, Co Antrim. I have booked my 4th JY holiday to Italy's Cilento Coast May 2012. I've been to Canadian Rockies/Alaska, South African Explorer with Zambia add on and Austrian Lakes. Each trip was so enjoyable and you are very well looked after. Pinkmarch, please don't let travelling to mainland put you off, I've never had any trouble at all. I am always nervous before the holiday at the thought of meeting a new group of travellers, but everyone else is in the same position and before long you're all getting to know each other. Go for it!! Get in touch if there is anything I can help you with.

Hi

Sorry new to this!!! How do you know when the new brochure is out? Do they post it out to you or is it online?
