Pam,
Entertainment in Aruba Lodge is not much as your in the middle of nowhere, we did have a very nice BBQ evening around the pool one evening and some local dancers came in. The entertainment at the Travellers beach, was not to exciting to be honest about 1h to 1hr 30min of entertainment ie Kareoke (sorry on spelling) local dancers, acrobats, singers thats sort of thing, but we sort of got in the habit of having dinner and then just a few drinks and chat, and then to bed not a very LATE night sort of holiday at all. As for going on the beach, sorry but no way can you sunbathe at all on the beach they will not leave you alone, we used to get the pool boy to save us some loungers looking over the sea wall, right next to the bar which was very handy so we could see all the action with out being bothered, there is a gaurd so they cannot come on to the complex or harrass you, we just descretley gave him a few bob to do this for us. All there is on the beach is stalls selling cheap things, the lads on the beach do offer a beach safari which some ladies went on and it was very good they were shown lots of things on the beach and in the rock pools fantastic pictures of things, you do have to pay for this, but worth doing I would say.
there is also an aids orphanage for children near by youngest was 10 months oldest 15 years we went to visit, they love to get people to come and see them. Take stationary items that sort of thing. Pencils and pens are wanted anywhere you go so stock up with cheap bits and just hand them out they really need this stuff.
