I did the Austrian Lake Tour in April 2009, the scenery is breath taking, a very nice tour over all not to hectic, there are no lifts in the hotel and the rooms are on 1st and 2nd floor so think of that. The weather when I went was really nice, hotel is good, not much around to walk to other than the CAKE AND COFFEE place just up the road which was visited on a daily basis after being out, very nice to sit and relax for a little while and watch the world go by. On one of the day's I and few others didnt do the optional tour, we got a local bus into the town and had a wander around and more cake and cofffee... have a great time away.

Hi Irene.

I look forward to seeing you on the plane. If not I suspect it will be at the airport in Salzburg where we all muster prior to getting the coach, to go to the hotel. Cindy is correct in saying that there are no lifts, nor hair dryers lol. However the stairs are very wide, And I am sure some on the young chap will be only too happy to assist in getting the cases up to the room. It will be a good trip. My advice though is too invest in some insect repellant, As we are situated by a very large lake.

August is not as far away as possible, But I have Bulgaria to look forward to first though.

I shall be travelling down from Glasgow via an internal flight.

Enjoy your trip

Andy

I i've just booked to go on this holiday end June. I also was thinking of what advise anyone can give with regards to clothing and anything else for that matter. Weather, anyone know what it could be like?

See you there, I am flying from Gatwick.

Hi,

Hi Hoops and Sian

I am flying from Gatwick as I believe the whole party will be flying from. However some passengers maybe coming from different parts of the country. And some like me I expect will have a connecting flight from their local airport. So we all will be flying to and from Gatwick. You will be fine on your own Sian, As most travellers will probably be in a similar boat to yourself.

As far as what to take. Well I would certainly invest in some insect repellant as there maybe a few bugs about. Despite it being summer, I would also ensure you pack something warm and water proof as we are situated very near large mountains and lakes. And in the evening it could become cool. For the ladies or anyone for that matter if desired, I would take a hair dryer, As the last time I was there. They didn't have any. And dont forget the continental plug. Also a hat and some sun glasses would be of use. I have a special hat just for the occasion lol.

But apart from that. Just take what you would normally take on Holiday.

Hope you all have a nice trip

Hi Rosemary

Yes I recall your good self. How are you. Of course we met in The Ahr Valley did we not. As you can see I have moved on from there. Well have been 6 times, However as you can see I have moved onto Austria now, 2nd trip in August. However at Easter I will be popping over to Bulgaria. So it will be 2 years since my last Ahr Valley trip. I shall return someday.

Have you been travelling?

Good to hear from you

I am a little disappointed with this new site. Also for changing my name.

You take care and hope our paths cross again.

Another thing the rep said was to use sunscreen as something to do with the air in Austria you can tend to burn quicker...I agree about the bug stuff as defo little friends in my room I looked out to the lake..There is lot's of good photo ops, on two of the optional trip days some ladies and I did our own thing, got a bus to local village and did a round trip of the lake getting of at places and getting back on, which was nice.

Hi Rosemary..... ( for others I met Rosemary on a Poland trip and have since been away to Austria and Kenya with Rosemary) xx

Hi Rosemary.

I am guessing then you must have met me On "Walking In The Ahr Valley" trip. After doing that trip 6 times I have decided to venture a little further afield now. And also re discovered flight lol. Last year I went to The Austrian Lakes ( without must ash cloud disruption lol ) And Switzerland and The Passion Play of Oberammagu. This year so far I have been on a beach Holiday in Bulgaria, and returning to Austria in a few weeks time. Next year I am starting to plan but I am waiting on a new brochure as the early 2012 is not to my liking at the moment.

How have you been and have you been away much lately.

Nice to hear from you

Regards Andy
