I have recently been to India (not a JY trip) and it was such an amazing country that I want to go back and see more! The tour I did included the golden triangle, Ranthambore and Shimla. A lot of our journies were on trains and they were so much better than I'd expected.
It was non-stop as it's a big country and a lot of area to cover even only doing the northern part. Very early starts some days, but so worth it for sights such as the Taj Mahal at sunrise, the Golden Temple and it's kitchens where 100,000 people are fed daily, or tigers at Ranthambore (we saw 3). The ceremony at the Pakistan border was another highlight, a noisy, joyful 90 minutes that I'm so glad I saw (not sure if that is currently available). Oh I could go on and on!
India was noisy, messy, busy and full of life, it's hard to describe, it really has to be experienced!
Whichever you choose I'm sure you'll have an experience of a lifetime.
Happy travels,
Rose
