Hi d17,
I believe it is possibly my post on this subject you are referring to, as I was also very confused at being told JY get such good prices (for themselves, not for us I may add) by block booking their seats many months in advance.
I was surprised to get a call from JY in September to say the flight had been changed from Virgin to Jet - I was wondering how JY could 'buy' the tickets with Virgin so far in advance, only to disregard them and obtain tickets much closer to the departure date with Jet? Again, I was fobbed off as well as JY seem to contradict themselves at every turn.
Fortunately I had previously upgraded my flight with Virgin to premium economy and Jet don't have this class, only economy or first, so I was quoted an extra £1500 to upgrade to first with Jet, which I declined. I was then advised I could keep my original booking with Virgin in premium economy, but that my flight would arrive a good hour before the Jet flight, and into a different terminal - fortunately there is one other person on the tour on the same flight so that I won't be totally on my own. Although I have 3 internal flights with Jet, I still preferred the idea of using Virgin for the long-haul flights. I don't think I would be happy if they had changed my flights, especially when Jet are cheaper- surely JY should be taking this reduction into consideration for those in economy? I also presume any marketing material is updated to reflect the change in airline? Also, in view of the fact I'm still flying with Virgin, why can't everyone else do the same, if they wish to?
I just hope nothing changes with my booking now as I'm due to pay my final balance this weekend.
Regards
Caroline
