Hi Monty.

I haven't used Jet2 before and I am a little confused. :)

It looks as though I can check in online, but that I will be charged extra for this?  I prefer a window seat by choice, but looking at the Jet2 website it seems to indicate that if I do not check in online they pre allocate seats, and that I cannot change my seat,  or ask for an alternative seat?  Could you advise please?

Je2 are also indicating on their website to be at East Midlands, 3 and a half hours prior to departure.  Given the heightened security issue I don't have a huge problem with this but it does seem a little excessive.

I see also that Jet2 offer meals on board but that you have to pre order them.  Any thoughts from regular travellers with them on whether this is worthwhile?  Other than that I shall probably have breakfast at the airport.

Thanks as always.

Hi Bosuncat,

Apologies for the delay. For these Jet2 flights, you will need to check in online. Check in for these flights open on the website approximately 28 days before you travel and you will not able to do so until then.

Jet2 will usually charge you to select a seat in advance of travel. We do not pre seat our customers on Jet2 flights so that you have the option to choose what you want if you check in online - obviously this is subject to availability. Once you have selected your seat, it may be possible to change it, but could be for a fee and again would be subject to availability. This should be able to be done on the Jet2 website. If you do not check in online, you will have a seat allocated for you, this can be changed at a charge and will be subject to availability.

If you check-in online, the three and a half hour wait is quite excessive but is a recommendation from the airline. Of course, you should be at the airport as early as possible, but two hours before the scheduled flight time for this tour should be fine.

I can't really comment on the food on a Jet2 flight as we have not received any feedback and personally, I have not sampled a Jet2 meal as yet. I suppose it is completely dependent on your food preferences too.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Thanks Monty.  It looks as though I shall cough up the extra dough and check in online.  I shall have to find someone to print the boarding pass for me though as I do not have a printer. 🙂

Hi Elaine

Not long now until we go on this trip. I responded to your suggestion that we swap email addresses and would still be happy to do so.

Thanks

Elaine (bosuncat),

I've used Jet2 a few times (from Manchester, Leeds & Newcastle) and personally rate them the best of the budget airlines.

You can normally order food on board but choice may be more limited if you fancy something book in advance, personally I just buy the meal deal from Boots or WH Smith after security.

Think the 3.5 hours must be an airport issue never had that before.

Hi,

I flew to Malaga with Jet2 and had no problems with them at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful, check-in and boarding were fine.

I checked in online and printed the tickets myself, and didn't change my allocated seat, only for Just You to also send me my flight tickets through the post. I was fine with this as it just meant I had two sets of printed paper tickets. My worry would be if I'd checked-in online and changed my seat before printing my own tickets, would JY send tickets with the original seat allocation? This could cause confusion at the airport if you effectively had two different seats allocated. Do JY still send paper tickets through the post or has this stopped since last October?

I can't comment on the food as I didn't get any on the flight, I prefer to pop into Boots for a meal deal once I'm through security, it works out cheaper, and it means I get exactly what I want.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Monty.  We have both been in touch with each other.  :)

I meant to ask.  Since numbers have gone up to 40, what is the male/female ratio now, and is anyone else travelling from East Midlands?

Hi,

Please could you let me know when I will receive my details from JY so I can check-in online as soon as possible as you can check-in 28 days before departure, and I fly in 3 weeks.

Hi Bosuncat,

There are 31 females and 9 males booked on this trip and 3 of these people are travelling from East Midlands airport - so you will not be alone.

Hi Magpie and everyone,

I received my details yesterday by email.... and I checked in this morning and printed out both boarding cards... I was even able to change one of my seats without any issues.

I'm now starting to get that holiday feeling... just need to get some Kuna and think about what to pack.

I also feel sorry for those 9 men.... lol lets hope they have lots of stamina!! :)

Thanks Mick.    I have ordered a sandwich both ways so will be okay.  Don't forget to email me and let me know if you are Nottingham way at any time.  🙂

As you can probably tell from another thread my information was sent via email so I should keep an eye on your email in box.  I have checked in online tonight.  Fortunately I have only had to change my seat one way, as it cost me £9.50 NOT to sit in a middle seat.  :s   Aisle or window only for me 🙂   I have ordered a sandwich on both flights as I shall grab something at East Mids. going out.  See you soon.  🙂

Hi all fellow travellers

Looks like we are all getting organised for our holiday. My brother travelled with Jet2 last week and was quite happy with this airline.

Look forward to meeting you all
