Hi Bosuncat,

Thanks for the reminder about taking some Euros - I had forgotten about that.

Looks like we are all getting organised for our holiday. My brother travelled with Jet2 last week and was quite happy with this airline.

Thanks Monty.  We have both been in touch with each other.  :)

I meant to ask.  Since numbers have gone up to 40, what is the male/female ratio now, and is anyone else travelling from East Midlands?

Bosuncat,

Would appreciate your feedback upon your return with regards to the numbers - 40 seems to be quite ridiculous.

When travelling with 32, the TM was constantly frustrated at the need to round up 32 people in the airport, after every trip off the bus, 32 cases on the bus, off the bus, into/out of the hotels and as travellers it became extremely tedious checking into hotels, sometimes 32 people filling in forms, handing over passports before keys could be issued - names called one at a time, not to mention the cramped quarters on the bus etc. Nothing that earth shattering but just one of those things that takes the edge off a great holiday.

It does make you wonder whether those that organize these trips really think of the logistics or just the profit

That said, I hope you enjoy the trip. I'm on the Makarska River trip in June.

Hi Sandy,

I've been on a number of tours when there has been 40 or thereabouts in the tour party and it really hasn't been a problem!  The tour mangers do a great job in organizing everything so it all runs smoothly.  Some of them ask the group to meet up around five or ten minutes before we're due to depart a hotel to identify our case before it's loaded onto the coach, whilst others just count to make sure the right number is there.  It's a pity if your TM was feeling frustrated over this but the ones I've encountered have taken it in their stride.  The only time I'd ever say it was an inconvenience having a large tour group was when we stopped for a "comfort break" and the queues for the ladies took a while, as did getting on and off the bus - having a second door on the coach really helps with this.

I'm happy if it's a large or small group - with a large group there is often more of a buzz and it's easier to avoid anyone who's annoying you!  Whereas with a smaller group people get to know each other better but it can get a bit monotonous seeing the same few faces every day for a couple of weeks or more!

Just my thoughts; others may well disagree!

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Sandy

I am going on this trip and I do have some reservations about the size of the group. As you say coach will be pretty full and check in could be prolonged! Will let you know the pros and cons on our return.

Thanks Sandy, and I am inclined to agree.

I Think that the largest group I have been on is 38 and that was to Costa de la Luz, and because of the very nature of that holiday (all inclusive), not everyone went on all the trips.  I was somewhat dismayed on this one when I found that the numbers had been increased.  We won't all be arriving at the hotel at the same time though which may help matters, we will have to see.

Be assured that with several of us on the trip from the forum, at least that there hopefully should be several reviews.  :)

Enjoy Makarska.  It's stunning.

I'm glad that everyone is so well organised.  See you all soon.  😃

I am going on this holiday on 15th May and it will be the largest group I have travelled with so I will be very interested to hear the feedback from the earlier group.  I have travelled with 30 plus before and it was fine - the only time it became a bit difficult was in Istanbul when it was Eid and everywhere was packed and yes, Bob, the queues to the ladies were VERY long.

I'm sure that one of us will get a review on before you go Jonah.  :)

Incidentally I have read that there is only one public toilet in Dubrovnik!  😕

Ladies always outnumber men on Just You holidays so the queues for the ladies loos will always be longer!

I agree with Bob, having a larger group has never been an issue on any of the holidays I have been on so far. In fact for the most part it has always been a bonus. A good tour manager however makes all the difference. As for the queuing....this is a traditional British pastime... we should all be used to it by now 🙂
