I am considering this holiday in March. The trip looks excellent. Could you tell me how many have booked for both of the dates, and the provisional flight times please. Also, although the hotel has very good ratings on Tripadvisor, the one constant criticism seems to be that it is a twenty minute walk from the town centre. The website states it is "close to the centre" Can you clarify please. Finally, what is the luggage allowance for the flights?

Hi SarahS,

For the 13th March departure, there are 17 people booked to travel and for the 20th March departure, there are 14 people booked. The flights, for both dates, depart from Heathrow at 13:00hrs and arrive in Iceland at 16:00hrs. On the way back, you arrive in Heathrow at 19:30hrs.

I will have to confirm this, and I hope to get back to you soon.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Sorry to bother you again, you didn't say what the baggage allowance is. Important on this trip, will need to take plenty of layers to keep warm.

Hi Sarah, I did this tour in March this year - you might have seen my review! The hotel is around a fifteen minute walk from the city centre but the only real free time you have is on the last morning. Some of us had booked a helicopter tour of the geothermal features but this was cancelled due to the weather so we had a ramble around the city instead, stopping off for some photo ops, morning coffee and a bit of souvenir shopping - very pleasant and not strenuous despite the weather! Some people enjoyed the facilities at the hotel instead. It is a lovely hotel, one of the nicest I've stayed in.

All the best,

Bob

Hi SarahS,

I had to get the baggage allowance checked for you too, but good news I have a response - this is 1 piece at 23kg.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Mr. Gray, you forgot to mention that we also used the time on our last morning to visit the....er....museum.... What a surreal experience that was!

Sarah - I agree with Bob, it's probably a 15-20 minute gentle stroll from the hotel into town but taxis are pretty cheap, especially if you get a group of you together like we did. Everything is concentrated in a very small area and the streets have an easy to navigate grid layout. But, there is a small convenience store quite close to the hotel if you don't want to venture far.

You will be very wise taking lots of layers as the weather changes by the minute. It's always very very windy. I'd also suggest a pair of YakTrax or similar for the Golden Circle because it can be slippy under foot (not great when you are right on the edge of a massive waterfall!!)

Book it - I promise you won't regret it. We had an awesome time....even at the.... 'museum'!

All the best

Mandy

Thank you Mandy, Bob and Monty. It's definitely on my list. I have to either work round some other events in March, or go for November.

Hi Sarah,

I can confirm that the town centre is around a 20 minute walk - obviously this is dependant on how fast you walk. However this year, and I believe it will be the same for next year, the hotel offered a shuttle 3 times a day into the city centre.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Another question, hope it's in the right place. I'm booked on the 20th March and looking forward to it immensely. Are towels provided for the geothermal pool/lake. It looks fantastic, can't wait.

Hi Bren, do you mean the included trip to the Blue Lagoon? If so, then yes towels are provided. I can't speak of any other places! This is a fantastic tour and I only wish it had been longer! I'm hoping JY will introduce a summer departure at some stage (and hopefully a week long trip) so I can get to do some of the things I wasn't able to on this tour, like whale watching, a geo-thermal helicopter tour and more!

Cheers,

Bob

Bob

Having been to Iceland in December and March, I'm with you for a summer trip.

Any possibility of this JY?

Thanks

Sylvia

Hi,

So far, we are only offering winter and that is mainly due to availability and price. Iceland has seen a significant growth in popularity over the last 4-5 years and therefore availability in key areas (i.e. Reykjavik) is in short supply for single travellers.

We hope that for 2017 we will be able to offer you some summer departures, but it will be dependent on price and availability.

Kindest regards,

Monty

That's great news Monty that JY are looking at Iceland for summer. However from my point of view I would want to do more than Rekjavik or even not bother with it at all. I bought a DVD when I was in Iceland last March and there are some stunning locations in the rest of the island - Rekjavik is only one tiny part.

Hi I agree with Jonah, there is so much on the island to explore we wouldn't need to stay in Reykjavik at all! Although there are so many stunning restaurants there I wouldn't mind sampling some of them again! Keep trying to get this summer tour off the ground please JY!

Cheers,

Bob
