Hi Olly or James,

I would love to go on the Golden West tour sometime, which includes San Francisco.I have noticed that Alcatraz is never mentioned on the itinery, and I have been reading reviews that it is an amazing experience to pay a visit to the island. Also,if you do want to do this trip, it is essential to pre-book tickets, as they are always fully booked.Do you think I would get a chance to do this trip if I booked with you,or is the timescale to tight in San Fran?

Thanks,

Simon.

Hello Simon, I think that trying to fit in a tour of Alcatraz whilst on the America's Golden West tour with JustYou is cutting it a bit too fine. Whilst you will have the choice of taking leisure time or optional excursions on some days, it would be quite tricky to squeeze a trip to alcatraz in as well. A lot of the JustYou tours are constructed to include as much of a country as possible, whilst still giving travellers a chance to relax at the resort if they require a break from it all. I think booking the trip to Alcatraz would be quite difficult whilst on the JustYou tour. Who knows, we may even include a trip to Alcatraz in one of our future itineraries.

I hope this information has been helpful and if you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to message me.

Kind regards

James, your editor

many years ago I went to San Fran and I have done the alcatraz tour, which was well worth it, I find it strange it is not included on the JY tour as I would of thought people would of wanted to visit this place.? maybe it is something JY could think of when planning the San fran tour in the future.

Hello

I'm happy to tell you that it IS possible to see Alcatraz independently, and the best time to do so is following your included city tour of San Francisco. That ends at about 11.30am, followed by an optional bay cruise that starts at about noon and lasts for 1 hour. So you can book an Alcatraz tour anytime after 11.30am, or later if you want to do the bay cruise too.

Of course the risk is that the times of these earlier tours are subject to change, and your Alcatraz booking could end up clashing with them, so bear that in mind when booking.

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

when i did the golden west tour in march the people that went on the alcatraz tour went at about 1pm. we had a morning tour of san francisco then the optional bay cruise. they went after that. some people didnt do the cruise so went to alcatraz earlier.
