I am just thinking of booking this holiday in June but before I do can anybody tell me how safe the walk ways at Plitvice lakes are, I have seen reports that there are gaps between the boards & people have fallen into the water.  Also are there steep hills to climb in Ljubljana ?

It's a few years since I did this excellent trip. As far as I can remember there was no problems with the walkways and the only steep bit in Ljubljana is up to the castle but I recall we went up by funicular railway.

You won't regret booking it.

I don't remember there being anything I thought was that tricky at Pitvlice, though there are certainly bits of narrow or uneven path where you have to watch your feet. These were mostly on the further flung areas. There are shorter loops you can opt to do if you're not confident on your feet.

Ljubjana doesn't have steep hills, except up to the castle and there's a lift for that.

I have booked this holiday for June this year, just wondering how long it takes to get to the lakes? Thanks

To be honest I can't remember but I think it was a couple of hours and pleasant scenery on the way.

Hi there.  I haven't been down to Plitvice since the old Yugoslavian days, and remember lots of steps and no hand rails on the walkways, but I'm sure that your TM will take things at a reasonable pace.  I didn't go last time as my walking hasn't been that great for some years.  I've only been down to Plitvice on the coach from Rabac, where the hotel  base(with Yugotours)  was then (happy days!), but I'm sure that Roger is right and it will be a nice journey.

Enjoy Ljubljana!  It's a lovely small city and flat.  I haven't been up to the Castle but believe the funicular is very frequent.  Don't forget your Euro's, and passport as you are going over to Slovenia.  Have a great time!
